ICYMI: I sat down with KOIN’s Ken Boddie on KOIN’s Eye on NW Politics to talk about the illegal dismantling of the Dept. of Education, reckless cuts to federal health programs, and how we can still affect policy—even in the minority.

The Trump administration’s mass deportation agenda is threatening the livelihoods of people in Oregon and across the country, and I will do all I can to demand accountability from this administration.
This PSU student was only months away from completing his doctorate and his work was helping advance research in fusion energy, which has the potential to help power the transition to clean energy.
Students should never be forced to flee the U.S. out of fear that they will be snatched off the street and detained with no due process. It’s a situation that should never be tolerated in a democratic society.

Did you know that women are the majority of Social Security beneficiaries?
We’re fighting to save Social Security so all women can get the benefits they earned.

Recently I spoke with a caregiver in a long-term care facility who spent six hours on the phone trying to make an appointment with the Social Security office.
I’m working with my Democratic colleagues to demand answers and put a stop to Trump and Musk’s plan to gut Social Security.
Elon Musk called Social Security a Ponzi scheme, but in fact it’s an earned benefit that the unelected billionaire and DOGE hackers have no right to cut or privatize. The cuts they made to customer service are already causing long delays and confusion for people trying to access their benefits.
Democracy and rule of law are under attack, and we all have a responsibility to stand up and defend the principles on which this country was founded.
The Trump administration has made it clear that they are willing to imprison people based on legitimate political speech, and now Trump is suggesting that U.S. citizens should be sent to prisons in El Salvador without oversight. This is outrageous.
It’s unconscionable that Trump and his administration continue to ignore constitutional due process rights. They must return Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
The Trump administration wrongly took a Maryland father off the street in the United States and sent him to a notorious prison in El Salvador. A judge ordered that he be returned but the administration refuses to correct this injustice.
I am leading legislation to prevent ICE raids near sensitive locations, including schools. I will continue to work on other strategies to fight Trump’s inhumane mass deportation agenda.
At a recent town hall meeting, a 4th grade student gave me a letter explaining how she is worried that ICE might take away her friends or their parents. It is unacceptable that the Trump administration is causing children to fear for their friends & their families.

Once again, Oregon excelled. Congratulations to the team at Sprague High School for the impressive first place win and to the Lincoln High School team for winning third place!
As a long time supporter of civics education, I know that the National We the People competition is rigorous and requires high school students to have broad knowledge about constitutional issues & be able to debate and discuss historical & contemporary interpretations.

Chag sameach to everyone observing Passover!
Similar policies have been tried in some states and the result was that thousands of U.S. citizens were denied their right to vote.
