there's one dude on here who has a megathread which is just screencaps of other people's better posts on here and i can't understand why he's not uniformly viewed as the villain of bluesky
wow the Norwegian government is so climate conscious, i wonder how they managed to promote EV use so heavily while still maintaining a balanced budget
It's absolutely astonishing: In just about 13 years, Norway has skyrocketed from virtually no sales of zero-emission battery electric vehicles to nearly 100% of all new passenger car purchases.
if you're going to nitpick i'm going to nitpick you and posit that by length the majority of fences are to keep animals out not people
This is why the olympics was so good. A massive brownfield regeneration project masquerading as a sporting event. It would’ve been better value if we just did the regeneration without the billions in sport but that’s illegal
Nothing in this acknowledges the economic reality of why many brownfield sites don’t get away as housing: they’re not financially viable unless someone (usually us, in some form) pays for them to be cleaned up and made ready
ok so everyone took up vaping to quit smoking, and then vaping became cringe so everyone took up smoking to quit vaping, but it's time for me to ask: are we so far fallen that i can resume my teenage affectation of only smoking cigars and cigarillos
my main problem with manhattan walking is that my London brain uses "complexity of directions" as a heuristic for "length" and all directions in manhattan are "go up this avenue and turn right at this street" and then you walk for two hours
grids HUGE for stopping meandering, yeah. when you stand at one end of a long straight road and know that the next 45 minutes of your walk are just down this one road it's dull
