Growing up in New Hampshire meant that we had access to presidential candidates early before they were popular. In 1970, my parents were invited to dinner with “a peanut farmer from Georgia” and his wife because my dad was president of the firefighters union.

Happy Hanukkah to all those who celebrate in Oregon, and across the country. May this season bring you strength, peace, and lots of light. Chag Sameach!
Merry Christmas, everyone! This holiday season, as we celebrate, let’s remember to thank the people working through the holidays protecting and serving our communities.
I hope you have a day full of joy and good times with family and friends!

Oregon has laws prohibiting local and state law enforcement from participating in federal immigration enforcement without a warrant. If you fear these laws are being violated, please report violations by calling 844-924-STAY.
We still do not know if this letter was real or simply an attempt to create fear. Either way, we have zero tolerance for this racist fear-mongering. I appreciate Lincoln Co Sheriff Curtis Landers and the FBI responding quickly and forcefully.
Tonight, it was Democrats who kept the government open, funded disaster relief, and stood up for our farmers. While Republicans were busy trying to satisfy the world’s richest man, Democrats were the adults in the room.

As the chaos continues on Capitol Hill, here's a quick recap of how we got here:
House Republicans just failed to pass THEIR funding bill in a House THEY control after dozens of THEIR members voted against it. THEY created this bill after THEIR biggest donor, who THEY'RE afraid of, came out against the bipartisan bill negotiated by THEIR Speaker.
Just to be clear, this is what House Republicans deem wasteful spending:
-Cancer research for children
-Health centers
-Safe drinking water
-Food stamps for families
The billionaires called and said they need more tax breaks, so they’re throwing working people under the bus.
I fully support the rights of workers to organize and bargain for better wages and working conditions. I hope Amazon will voluntarily recognize their right to collectively bargain.
We need disaster relief for a record wildfire and hurricane season. Instead, Republicans are on the verge of shutting down the government because billionaires told them to do so. Yet again, selling out the working people that are suffering at the whims of billionaire donors.
Congratulations to Lane County Sheriff Cliff Harrold on being named the Sheriff of the Year by the Oregon State Sheriff's Association. We are grateful for your service and dedication to keep Lane County safe. ⬇️
I stand with United Steelworkers is opposition to the sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon. I joined 28 of my colleagues to call on President Biden to stop the sale. We must fight for a strong American manufacturing industry and workforce.
Today marks the two year anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act, requiring all states to recognize same-sex and interracial marriages. It’s simple: Love is love.
It’s made even worse when you fly in from Mar-a-Lago ONLY to vote against a pro-worker majority on the NLRB.
Of the votes that took place yesterday, Vance ONLY cast one vote, and that was against American workers.
It’s not a surprise to see a ‘No’ from Manchin and Sinema on NLRB.
It also shouldn’t be a surprise that JD Vance voted ‘No.’
But you cannot say you’re pro-worker when you vote against workplace rights and protections.⬇️
