I am optimistic (or naive) enough to believe that there's a chance Netflix would commit to running WB as a separate theatrical business while taking an exclusive first streaming window for its movies and exploiting its huge library. I would expect them to show their hand about that fairly soon.

That's bad enough, but there is also no evidence that Ellison knows how to run one studio (he's owned Paramount for about five minutes), let alone two. He's part of a generation/mindset that is all about mining existing IP and has zero knowledge/interest in how good movies are developed and made.
especially if the rumor that Netflix would get Warner Bros. (the studio) and Comcast would get HBO Max is true. All consolidation is bad, but a right-wing Trump-loving techbro dynasty owning and destroying two of the five remaining major studios is beyond bad.
It's hard to overstate what a catastrophe it would be for moviemaking and moviegoers if the Ellisons are allowed to acquire Warner Brothers and merge it with Paramount. I know that rooting for Comcast and/or Netflix sticks in a lot of throats here but those would be far better alternatives... >
You always hear the rationale that if a reporter stood up to Trump, they'd be kicked off the plane/out of the briefing, etc. Which means what? That they'd no longer be present for something that's already widely disseminated without their help? They trade dignity and integrity for access to nothing.
There are certain things you have to ignore, including logic and the fact that this version of Chicago could not look (and sometimes sound) more like Australia if a kangaroo with a koala on its back hopped across the screen. Just go with it. You deserve this.
I tore through Peacock's All Her Fault and I feel quite dirty, but it's wildly entertaining and unlike most "8 hours/coulda been 3" series, this one packs in at least 3 seasons of utterly bananas plotting. Sarah Snook does 50 shades of incredulous horror; Jake Lacy remains TV's greatest bad husband.
Reworking my most recent book chapter to class it up a little with some stuff about Buddha and the Stoics. Give me 15 mins.

I read the Nuzzi excerpt in Vanity Fair, and there is something maddening about her choice to refer to RFK Jr. not by name but with mock coyness as "the Politician." It suggests that the chance to actualize some Carrie Bradshaw-meets-Big fantasy fueled all of this. Anyway, I don't need to know more.

lol this actor on Bridgerton thinks that not eating between breakfast and lunch is "intermittent fasting." I've tried that diet too! So far no results but it's only been a few years.
I know a lot of people who aren't writers use it for writing. I think those are people for whom needing something to be written is a means to an end, and I understand that. But for me, it's the means and the end. It's my one skill. I try to improve at it every day. I cannot imagine surrendering it.
When I started work on my latest book, I joked that in the afterword I would write, "This book was written without the use of AI." Now I'm thinking I really should do it. Not that people will necessarily believe writers when we authenticate work as our own, but it's at least worth a try.
