I love the way each of the six baby crocodiles in this photo seems to have a completely distinct personality.
Top (l.-r.): Introvert, idealist, jerk
Bottom (l.-r.): Class clown, stoner, pessimist
Suspending all political and Epstein posting to say: Please, please, please, somebody pick this up! We need more Poker Face! deadline.com/2025/11/peac...
Jay Kelly opens in theaters tomorrow. I may be in the minority on this one, but I think it's great--a dark, sad, tough take on fatherhood and celebrity disguised as a warmhearted, glowy one. Did you think Noah Baumbach was going to spare anyone, even George Clooney? Have no fear. He does not.
Gosh, such a shame this never came together.
I honestly don't think it's different from "The protesters are paid by Soros" or "Schumer has been working for the Republicans all along." People want to believe that they're up against a giant, hidden, well-orchestrated conspiracy even in the face of evidence that most people can't keep secrets.
Important takeaway: I'm never going to apologize for a typo in an email again.
I think Republican leaders should study what has happened throughout the last century or two of international history when a populace with this kind of inequity rubbed in its face day after day, year after year, finally snaps. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/u...
I'm not a big release-the-files person but...
RELEASE THE FILES.
This is wild, and as a lifelong proud-ish Upper WEST Sider, I offer it as humble proof that although God knows we have our faults, the Upper East Side is...hooboy. Not the same AT ALL. This really captures how the UES can sometimes feel like the largest gated community in NYC.
This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.
I miss my dog. I miss looking down. I miss checking to see if she's asleep. I miss her breathing. I miss her indifference to whether I'm busy. I miss the sound of her drinking from her water bowl. I miss her delight in having a completely predictable day. Death sucks.
Austen, but if you threw in Shelley Duvall and Shelley Winters, I might rethink.
This isn't "internal recriminations." It's voters expressing overwhelming opposition to what the people they elected to represent them are doing, and anyone--either in journalism or politics--who characterizes it as infighting is either not seeing and hearing what's right in front of them or lying.
I don't think I've actually said it, but as a gay man, I certainly understood it when it was used by gay and trans people. When I say "I'd hesitate to use it again," I mean that I think there are better rhetorical strategies available to LGBTQ+ people that are less likely to be coopted by bigots.
How badly do you have to have screwed up for Indivisible to say "Actually, no, divisible"?
Sometimes I see a post that I am at least four different words away from remotely comprehending and it feels oddly soothing, like listening to grownups chatting in the next room must have felt when I was in my crib. Just a nice hum.
(I know. Something sports something. Please do not explain.)
Did we check with Dem Senate leadership on this? Because, bear with me because this is some deep thinking, if we end same-sex marriage, voters in '26 will remember who did it and that could help us. How about if we nullify gay marriage in exchange for a floor vote on legalizing it? Just spitballing!
