Who could have seen this coming? Abortion bans force doctors to question, delay, or deny standard care during miscarriages – which can be deadly.
My office has been in touch with many of individuals involved, from bystanders to those arrested, and I will continue to conduct all necessary oversight over DHS and the Trump Administration.
This morning, I spoke with the Special Agent in Charge of the ICE arrest in Linda Vista to reiterate the importance of affording everyone their legal rights and ensuring that agents immediately and always identify themselves and have their badges visible.
My thoughts this 4th of July
The U.S. footprint globally is often our military–but USAID was different, saving 91 million lives, strengthening local capacity, and building a positive U.S. reputation. Cutting USAID could cause 14 million more deaths in the next 5 years, making all of us less safe and secure.
Republicans just passed Trump’s budget bill — not a single Democrat voted for it. This is an utter betrayal of the American people. We won’t forget this.
As Republicans in Congress rush through Trump’s ugly budget bill, I’m thinking about kids like Delilah, who rely on Medicaid to get the health care they need.
So many people will be hurt because Republicans prioritize tax breaks for billionaires and corporations over lives.
ICYMI: Unsurprisingly, House Republicans began to fold overnight on Trump’s ugly budget. Even when MILLIONS are at risk of losing health care and food assistance, they have no moral courage.
The final vote will happen later today. Shame on EVERY Republican who votes for this.
The Republicans are rushing this bill because it’s toxic.
Kicking 17 million people off of their health care, gutting food assistance, setting up hospitals and nursing homes for failure – NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS.
We need EVERYONE across the country to hear about this. 📢🔃
Why are Republicans in Congress supporting this bill if it hurts their own people?
It’s simple: they’re under fire from Trump to pass tax breaks for his buddies – the ultra rich and big corporations. And the only way to pay for that is to slash health care and SNAP.
IT’S A GRIFT.
TL;DR: No matter who you are, this bill will hurt YOU.
(Unless you’re a billionaire or a big corporation…)
We only need FOUR Republicans to find the courage to stand up for their OWN constituents.
17 million people will be kicked off health care and millions more will be affected by longer wait times, higher costs, hospital closures, and nursing home closures.
This should be an obvious NO.
Spineless Senate Republicans before *promptly* folding and voting for the Big Ugly Bill…
ICYMI: Trump’s budget (aka the Big Ugly Bill) passed the Senate yesterday, but now it’s back to the House. House Democrats are holding the line and voting NO – but we need 4 Republicans to join us to tank this bill.
Stay tuned – we’re doing everything we can to stop this.
Republicans’ budget would DEFUND Planned Parenthood, putting 200 health centers at risk of closure and taking away access to a health care provider for 1 million low-income people.
This would mean no more cancer screenings, STI treatments, or birth control for so many people.
The White House has resorted to blatant LYING because they’re scared of the truth: this bill will increase the deficit, kick millions off of health care, cut food assistance, and will help the ultra-rich the most.
This is not what the American people want, and Republicans know it.
Last time I checked, the American people want their costs to go down.
But Trump’s budget will make:
-Your food costs go up by slashing food assistance
-Your energy costs go up by killing wind and solar tax credits
-Your health care costs go up by cutting Medicaid and ACA subsidies
Senate Republicans just passed Trump’s horrific budget that will:
-Kick 16 million people off their health care
-Put 300 rural hospitals on the brink of closure
-Close 200 Planned Parenthoods
-Make millions more kids hungry
Now it’s coming back to the House. I’m voting NO.
Right now, Senate Democrats are forcing Republicans to vote on a huge slate of amendments.
For the record, Republicans are PRO: kicking millions off of Medicaid, hospital closures, gutting SNAP, slashing clean energy programs, and huge tax breaks for the ultra rich.
Food insecurity in San Diego has risen to levels we haven’t seen since the pandemic.
Why? Because of inflation, tariffs, rising costs, and supply chain issues.
What’s the GOP’s response? To cut SNAP, our best program to address food insecurity.🤦♀️
