I hosted a grant information session to help Queens groups navigate the federal funding process & listen to their concerns about the impact of a federal funding freeze.
Organizations in Queens rely on federal funds. Any disruptions could be detrimental to the people they serve.
A wonderful evening spent at the Time Television and Bangla Patrika Gala! I'm proud to celebrate the most prominent media outlets serving the Bangladeshi American community here in Queens. I commend both their teams for their dedication & commitment to fair & honest journalism.
Lowering everyday costs for families is a priority in Queens.
25% tariffs will do the opposite.
This means higher prices on the essentials, like gas & groceries.
Relieved that American Keith Siegel is coming home & reuniting with his wife Aviva after months in Hamas captivity.
Aviva was also taken hostage on 10/7. Since her release, she has been a fierce advocate for hostages & families. I'm grateful they are safe & together again.
Our nation & our community is a better place because of the contributions of Black Americans.
During Black History Month we recognize their extraordinary achievements in every part of American life & culture. Together, let's continue to uplift their voices & stories.
Happy #LunarNewYear! This week I was proud to reintroduce two pieces of legislation: my bill to establish Lunar New Year as a federal holiday and my resolution recognizing the historical and cultural significance of the holiday

Featuring a food pantry, community spaces, a library, offices, a play area, and more the new CRECE Family Enrichment Center will be an essential gathering space in Queens.
I look forward to welcoming our community into the center soon!
My thoughts & prayers are with the passengers & everyone impacted by the aircraft collision near Reagan National Airport tonight.
As we continue to monitor the situation, I am grateful for all the first responders at this devastating scene.
I echo the concerns in reports that the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is among the federal programs at risk in the president’s funding freeze.
This program is lifesaving and helps support security at nonprofits in my district targeted by terrorism threats.
Today I learned that NYPD can not access their federal funds that help keep NYC safe.
The directive to freeze federal funding is literally defunding law enforcement & putting our public safety at risk.
I am deeply concerned to learn that Medicaid portals are shut down in all 50 states including New York.
Nearly 7 million adults & children in NYS rely on this for health care coverage.
This means missed payrolls & rent. No funding for school meal programs, housing support or health care assistance. It takes away public safety resources & so much more. We're supposed to be lowering costs & putting food on the table for families. This directive does the opposite.
The White House is freezing TRILLIONS in community grants & financial support.
I have been hearing from my constituents all day & their concerns about what this will mean.
While we're continuing to learn more, here is what you need to know right now:
Proud to lead a bipartisan resolution marking the liberation of Auschwitz & honoring the innocent lives lost during the Holocaust with Rep. Lois Frankel, Rep. Mike Lawler, & Congressman Don Bacon.
We must stand united against the rise in antisemitism in the US & around the world.
On #HolocaustRemembranceDay we remember the 6 million Jews & millions of others who were systematically & brutally murdered by the Nazi regime.
We must continue to give the words #NeverAgain power & stand firmly against antisemitism whenever we are confronted with it.
🚨 Now Open: IRS Direct File 🚨

Iraqi lawmakers passed a bill legalizing child marriages as young as 9 years old.
9-year-old girls should be in school, making friends, and enjoying their childhood. Forced marriages rob them of their youth, rights, safety, and a self-determined future.

If you’re born in America, you’re an American. Full stop.
The NIH is the largest funder of biomedical research, especially cancer research, worldwide.
Trump's executive order pausing research grant reviews, meetings, and hiring at the NIH will stunt our advancements and break throughs in health care long into the future.
Soon after taking office, Trump disbanded the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
Days later, another community is experiencing the terror & tragedy of a school shooting.
Our children deserve better than this.
