Rosa L. DeLauro

Rosa Luisa DeLauro is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Connecticut's 3rd congressional district since 1991. She is a member of the Democratic Party. The district is based in New Haven and includes most of its suburbs. DeLauro is the dean of Connecticut's congressional delegation since 2013 upon the retirement of Senator Joe Lieberman.

Growing up in Wooster Square, the heart of New Haven’s Italian American community, I learned the value of hard work, faith, family, responsibility, and community. I am honored to represent these values as the Co-Chair to the Italian American Congressional Delegation in Congress.
I am so glad to have joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen yesterday. This project is a testament to the importance of investing in our community's needs. Thank you for serving our most vulnerable with dignity and respect.
Today the Department of Energy Office of Technology Transitions Energy Program for Innovation Clusters Prize announced $1 million for entrepreneurs in New Haven. This award will support ClimateHaven’s work to help Connecticut’s startup companies lead the way in energy innovation and job creation.

On December 5th, 1955, the Montgomery Bus Boycott ignited a pivotal chapter in the Civil Rights Movement. We honor the courage of Rosa Parks and boycotters that bravely stood together for justice and continue to inspire us to keep fighting for racial equity today.
