On #BlackWomensEqualPayDay, I’m proud to join Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester in introducing the Black Women’s Equal Pay Day Resolution to bring attention to the economic disparity Black women face in the workplace. I’ll keep fighting to achieve equal pay for all.
This is about more than a random f-bomb. This is a declaration of defiance of our courts at the highest level of our government by a man who now seeks a lifetime appointment to one of the highest courts in our land.
And if Mr. Bove simply ‘can’t recall’ any of this and demands his subordinates compromise their professional obligations, he doesn’t have the moral judgment or character to serve in a lifetime position on the federal court.
And clearly substantiate Mr. Reuveni’s claims they do. Texts, emails, and documents show that the Department of Justice misled a federal court and disregarded a court order. Mr. Bove spearheaded this effort, which demanded attorneys violate their ethical duty of candor to the court.
Senators raised these allegations at Emil Bove’s judicial nomination hearing, and he offered only carefully wordsmithed responses. So, I asked for documentation from Mr. Reuveni to further substantiate his claims. That’s what I’m releasing to the public today.
Erez Reuveni was a career Justice Department attorney who vigorously defended President Trump’s immigration policies during his first Administration. So, when this loyal public servant came forward with serious allegations of misconduct by Emil Bove, I knew it was out of principle—not politics.
United Way helps communities move forward with their early childhood education, food security, and disaster relief programs. Today, I joined United Way’s Advocacy Forum to thank them for all the work that they do for American families.
Great to see @iamals.bsky.social’s Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya today—even if virtually. The best hope for an ALS cure or treatment is NIH. I will do everything I can to fight back against the Trump Admin’s medical research cuts—for Brian and others like him.
President Trump and his Administration are making cuts to critical programs at NIH, including Diabetes Prevention studies, and hurting the agency’s ability to operate. I urged my Republican colleagues to help the families in front of us today by protecting NIH funding.
Approximately 170 children joined us on Capitol Hill to talk about the importance of medical research for Type 1 diabetes. I’ll continue to fight for medical research that gives these children and their families hope for a cure.
Illinois broadcasters play a critical role in keeping every corner of Illinois up to date with news and alerts. Today, I met with leaders of the Illinois Broadcasters Association to discuss legislation to protect broadcasting and access to local radio.
The U.S. has the highest number of measles cases in 33 years. And during this critical time, Donald Trump and RFK Jr. continue to undermine vaccines and strip away funding for critical health services and research. This Administration is endangering American lives.
I'm heartbroken over the flooding in TX & devastating loss that has taken place there. I'll continue to pray for those who have lost a loved one or are still waiting for news, especially the parents of young ones. As always, I'm grateful to the first responders who are working nonstop to save lives.
Today we remember the lives lost at the Highland Park shooting: Katherine Goldstein, Irina and Kevin McCarthy, Stephen Straus, Jacquelyn Sundheim, Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza, and Eduardo Uvaldo. In their memory, I’ll continue to push for common sense gun safety reform.
As Republicans rush to make the largest cut to health care in American history, a new RAND report reveals that major children’s hospitals across TX, OH, FL, & PA depend on Medicaid for more than 60% of care. Remember: This is all to give the ultrawealthy tax breaks. Disgraceful.
