Martin Heinrich

Martin Trevor Heinrich is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from New Mexico, a seat he has held since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Heinrich served as the U.S. representative from New Mexico's 1st congressional district from 2009 to 2013. He and fellow senator Ben Ray Luján are the co-deans of New Mexico's congressional delegation.

What I can say definitively about the El Paso airport closure is that there was not a threat to the El Paso airport or its airspace and there was no legitimate reason to shut it down. Now we need answers about why airspace in New Mexico still remains closed.
This is an unprecedented Temporary Flight Restriction, and I am closely monitoring it. The people of El Paso and Doña Ana County deserve answers — fast. I will keep pushing the Administration to share the information they can, because people deserve to know they are safe.
This includes my bill to repeal the provision that would have let some Republican senators collect hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars for legally obtained phone records. Politicians should be fighting for working families instead of fighting to line their own pockets.
This funding means real wins for Gallup: saving the city from an additional $70 million in costs for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project and providing $115,000 to help the Gallup Police Department solve crimes — delivering clean water and keeping families safe.
