I negotiated and fought to make gun trafficking a federal crime, and it’s working. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act gives law enforcement the tools they need to fight crime and keep our communities safe. www.cleveland.com/court-justic...
I led the effort on the first and only Congressional action on gun reform in nearly 30 years. I know how hard it can be to work through differences. But it’s what our kids need from us- in Congress, in New Mexico, within our own families.
SunZia is transformational for our state. And that’s exactly why I’ve been fighting for it since 2009. It will create thousands of jobs and bring us one step closer to meeting our climate goals. t.co/5GUzjUqmKn

There’s $2 million in grants from the Federal Emergency Connectivity Fund Program headed to Rio Rancho Public Schools. And I’ll keep fighting to make sure all of NM’s students have the fast and reliable internet they need to succeed in school. t.co/dAJRXTO9x8
Mental health is health. This #SuicidePreventionMonth, check in on yourself and the people you care about. The 988 lifeline is available to help - day or night. Call, text, or chat 988 to receive support.
One in every three of NM counties is a maternal health desert, leaving many NM mothers without the prenatal and postnatal care they need. I’m fighting to change that and secured nearly $4M to expand training for maternal and infant health care providers this year.
There’s $4.3M in federal funds coming to NM to help track drug overdoses and emerging threats. On Senate Appropriations, I push to fund exactly this type of work in New Mexico and nationally. To tackle the challenges we face, we need to understand them.
I was privileged to serve in his administration and will forever be grateful for all that he taught me. Governor Richardson’s legacy will have a lasting impact on the United States and the world, as it already has had on me and so many others. Julie and I have the Richardson family in our thoughts.
