Amy Jean Klobuchar is an American politician and lawyer serving as the senior United States senator from Minnesota, a seat she has held since 2007. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), Minnesota's affiliate of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the county attorney of Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Tens of millions of Americans, including about 4 million Texans, are standing on the edge of a health care premium cliff. Without the health care tax credits, the average annual premium for these Texas families will more than double. Senate Democrats are fighting to stop that.
I went to the Senate floor to make the case for the resolution I lead with Senator Kaine to overturn the punishing Canadian tariffs. No way to treat an ally 🇨🇦 and no way to treat the American people. It passed the Senate! The House needs to come back and act.
Trump’s tariffs are a nearly $2,000 tax on American families. The Senate is taking action by repealing his corrupt tariffs on Brazil, and we will vote to stop his tariffs on Canada next. The House needs to return to work and reverse these tariff taxes and actually lower costs.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Without health care, Americans won’t get the screenings they need to detect cancer early and get the care they need. We should be extending the health care tax credits—not letting premiums double for tens of millions of Americans.
First the administration cut food assistance for Americans in need. Now they’re refusing to use emergency funds for food assistance—even though their now-deleted shutdown plan said they could. They have the funding to keep families from going hungry. There’s no excuse.
A couple in their 60s in Hibbing could see their monthly premiums increase from about $200 to $475. That’s an increase of more than $3,000 a year! With prices already rising, that means families will have to choose between paying for essentials or health care.
In northern MN, some people will see their health insurance premiums double if Congressional Republicans refuse to act. In Bemidji, a family of four could see their monthly premiums increase more than 140% — from less than $200 to more than $470.
Let’s be clear: the administration is choosing not to tap emergency funds available to provide critical food assistance for families in need. Their own shutdown plan — which they recently deleted — confirmed they could. Read it for yourself:
One thing that will be especially spooky this Halloween? Candy prices 👻 They’re up more than 10% since last year as tariffs increase the cost of everything from chocolate to packaging.
