President Trump is creating chaos in the housing market — threatening cuts to housing programs for families, seniors and veterans. Donald Trump needs to reverse course and not do anything that would raise housing costs for Americans.
I just heard from a nonprofit in Massachusetts that helps veterans with transitional housing. Trump's shutdown of gov funding hurts their ability to buy and prepare food for 100+ veterans. Rent is due in 5 days. The loss of funds could mean some veterans face eviction.
While President Trump illegally pauses federal funding from Congress, the Senate must not be business as usual. We do not consent to this lawless power grab.
I just voted NO on Scott Bessent’s Treasury Secretary nomination. He is Trump’s top pick to do the hard work of cutting taxes for every billionaire in America, himself included.
When there weren't enough bank examiners on the beat, SVB and Signature Bank failed, requiring big bailouts. The FDIC should explain why it’s now axing even more examiners whose job it is to make sure big banks don't crash our economy. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
Giant banks like JPMorgan and Wells Fargo hiked the cost of loans to make a bigger profit. After pressure, they pledged in front of Congress that they'd pass on higher savings rates to their customers. Senator Reed and I called on these CEOs to keep their word.
Pete Hegseth’s confirmation will make our nation less safe. It is a sad and dangerous day when Republican Senators put loyalty to President Trump ahead of our national security.
The Senate just received another report that Pete Hegseth has a pattern of alcohol abuse. Confirming him as Secretary of Defense puts our national security at risk.
Pete Hegseth admitted to the Senate that he paid $50,000 (!!!) to silence a "Jane Doe" who accused him of rape. But at his hearing last week, he said he was “falsely accused." More questions than answers. We can't rush his vote and trust him with our national security.
Republicans plan to pay for their billionaire tax cuts by slashing health care for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities. It’s robbing working families so the richest Americans can get even richer. I’m in the Senate to fight back.
The Secretary of Defense has to be ready to go 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.   Pete Hegseth has exercised terrible judgement with alcohol, and we cannot trust him with our national security.   I hope my Republican colleagues are thinking hard about the choice in front of them.
