As DOJ slips steadily into an ethical sewer, Americans should be scared stiff by this craven abuse of prosecution power. At long last, Republicans should grow a spine & share our public outrage.
The rallying cry today in Stamford—independent investigation with state & local involvement, far reaching reform of ICE, firing failed federal leadership, & more—mirrors demands of so many sickened & heartbroken by the Minneapolis tragedy.
Grateful to hundreds including Gov Lamont & other leaders who rallied in Stamford against ICE brutality & lawlessness. Killing of Renee Good was part of a pattern—escalating excessive force, documented in my PSI report.
Proud to join VFW in honoring students & teachers who show the meaning of patriotism in education & action—at the 55th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner. Thank you VFW for tireless advocacy for our nation’s heroes.
Honoring All-State High School Football players—including coaches, parents & others who made their success possible. Thank you for your model of skill & sportsmanship, & to the CT High School Coaches Association.
I’m demanding Secy Noem disclose key facts about ICE’s escalating, indefensible use of excessive force & firearms—part of my ongoing PSI investigation.
Sickening brutality & fatalities will continue without independent scrutiny & Congressional action & reform. Internal investigation alone is blatantly inadequate.
My PSI investigation of ICE agent brutal assaults & detention of hundreds of U.S. citizens shows a pattern of abuse & excess that must be stopped. The Minneapolis tragedy was predictable & preventable.
The investigation of this heartbreaking ICE killing must be immediate & independent, not depending solely on federal agents. Credibility is critical. Beyond individual accountability, there must be thorough scrutiny of ICE practices & tactics.
I also join them in demanding justice & accountability for this American killed by an ICE agent; for this community, which has been terrorized by lawless immigration agents; & for our country, which deserves a gov't that follows the law & abides by the basic values of our Constitution. 3
I join my colleagues from MN & the many local & state lawmakers & law enforcement officials who have called for peace in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. 2/
This horrific tragedy was both predictable & preventable. For months, armed ICE & CBP agents have roamed American cities & brutally assaulted American citizens with seemingly no repercussions—& now, a woman is dead. My heart breaks for her family & loved ones. 1/
After promising to end forever wars, Trump must explain to the American people why he wants to drag the US into another armed conflict.
There appears to be no clear justification or exit strategy.
Trump is seemingly conducting a continuing military operation not a law enforcement action. Maduro is in custody, but an American armada remains poised to invade again.
They must come to Congress for approval.
Today's classified briefing gave me absolutely zero comfort.
Continuing military action & unrest in Venezuela risk spiraling out of control.
CT is right to stand up to the administration’s blatant power grab. States should be free to run their own elections & there is no evidence that voter fraud is a widespread issue. I am hopeful the courts will judge this lawsuit for what it is—meritless.
Trump & his lackeys can try to bully CT all they want, but the facts are clear: this type of national voter roll poses a real risk to people’s privacy & would be completely unprecedented.
Do not forget: Democracy is not guaranteed. It cannot be taken for granted. 3
Do not forget: Police were brutally attacked, injured & killed, doing their job to enable a peaceful democratic transition of power. They still bear the scars. So does democracy. 2/
Do not forget: Five years ago, rioters incited by Trump tried to destroy our democracy. Trump pardoned & then glorified them, & then empowered them in key Administration offices. We cannot allow his rewriting history. 1/
