Ukraine is fast becoming a world superpower, pushing back Russia with drones & other advanced, inexpensive technology invented, designed, manufactured, & adeptly applied by Ukraine.
Trump’s DOD is squandering an opportunity & obligation. Freezing aid directed by Congress is illegal, & morally reprehensible. Hegseth should be called to account in Congressional hearings today & tomorrow.
Trump is breaking America’s promise to Afghan allies—sending them to death & torture in Afghanistan or humanitarian crisis in the Congo. Along with our veterans, I say NO.
FCC Chair Carr’s legal challenge of ABC’s broadcast licenses is political retaliation—unconstitutional, government censorship. Disney must fully fight this bullying in the courts & in public opinion—do not obey in advance.
Abusive political prosecutions must have consequences for officials who persecute innocent people. My legislation would impose accountability with penalties.
In Trump’s America, a picture of seashells at the beach is enough to indict you. Donald Trump lets vengeance & vanity pervert our justice system. Indictments on demand deeply degrade our democracy.
Here in Hartford & across CT, gas prices are skyrocketing. With the Strait of Hormuz still closed prices will rise even more. Consumers deserve remedy & relief from these costs—& from Big Oil’s profiteering.
Thanks to swift, skilled law enforcement, tragedy was averted last night. Violence has no place in our politics—or anywhere.
Americans should hear Afghan allies’ stories of suffering & hardship, separation & anxiety. They should shock our conscience. Thank you @shawnjvandiver.bsky.social & @afghanevac.bsky.social for leading this “virtual CODEL” & giving them voice & face.
America must keep its promises to Afghan allies, & families, living in this country or abroad in Doha camps. A great nation keeps its promises. We’ll have no allies in the future if we break our word now.
They’re living in intolerable conditions of deprivation & depression, & threatened with deportation to the Congo or Afghanistan where they face torture & death.
My heart breaks, as I listen to stories of Afghan allies, who put their lives on the line to protect our troops, on a call arranged by @afghanevac.bsky.social.
Insurance companies are required to provide comparable coverage for mental & physical health—restrictive requirements violate parity laws & make it harder for people to access care. Proud that CT is holding these companies accountable—we must do so nationwide. www.ctinsider.com/connecticut/...
Proud to join Center for Family Justice annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes in Fairfield—raising awareness about domestic violence & supporting services to counter it. Thank you volunteers, staff, community leaders, & all walkers.
Welcoming Rihan home—after ICE cruelly & illegally seized & detained him. Cheshire united to support him & his family, who protected our troops in Afghanistan.
Likely corruption—that’s why they want to keep secret millions in contributions to Trump’s monstrous, monarchical boondoggle. All abetting their schemes & concealment deserve accountability.
Sweetheart contracts, deep-sixed investigations, rigged regulations—& more—are among the reasons donors want to hide.
Among all Trump’s immigration cruelties, this one would be especially hideous. Afghan allies who protected our troops were promised safety if America left. Now America is abandoning them & breaking its promise. Pass our Afghan Adjustment Act immediately.
Health care delayed is health care denied.
Unconscionable & unacceptable, staffing cuts at the VA are resulting in reduced access to health care.
Advocacy by @commondefense.bsky.social is elevating this cause & providing a voice to veterans across the country.
Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Warsh proved his groveling subservience to Trump—parroting judicial nominees in evading questions on who won the 2020 elections & numerous other issues. Independence is indispensable in this job. His lack of it is disqualifying.
