The offer of so-called ‘deferred resignation’ is deceptive and legally dubious, and denied federal employees the time they need to make a major life decision. Today's ruling pausing that offer will give them a little more time to evaluate what is on the table, which is a step in the right direction.
From USDA to EPA and beyond, federal workers are under attack. I joined @hoyer.house.gov, @connolly.house.gov, @kaine.senate.gov, @bobbyscott.house.gov, @beyer.house.gov and other members of Congress for a discussion with federal employee and civil service organizations to coordinate fighting back.

In light of the Trump Administration’s recent actions, I know many of you are worried and uncertain. There’s a lot to discuss so I’m hosting a telephone town hall specifically on issues related to the federal workforce this evening at 6pm. Dial 833-998-0892 to join!
Not a single person in the Executive Branch — not Donald Trump, not Elon Musk, and not any of their cronies — has the authority to shut down USAID. Congress created the agency by statute. We ask a lot of our civil servants. Today, we ask of them another task — show up to work. Continue to serve.
Congress can rein in Trump's abuse of power and stop these destructive, price-raising tariffs: @repdelbene.bsky.social and I introduced the Prevent Tariff Abuse Act. Our bill would stop this and restore legal balance to trade powers. Congress should pass it. 7/7
Trump's tariffs are a clear overreach of executive power, misusing authorities never intended for this. The Constitution delegates trade authority to Congress. Trump's abuses of trade powers makes it clear that Congress must act to restore the constitutional balance of power. 6/
Trump claims - falsely - that others pay the costs of his tariffs. Those costs will be passed on to people who buy the products and services on which they are levied -- aka YOU. Other countries may respond with tariffs of their own, harming American producers and exporters. 5/
Trump hit our neighbors and close allies, Canada and Mexico, with tariffs more than twice as high as those he put on our geopolitical adversary China. This is a longstanding pattern with Trump: he alienates our friends in ways that drive them away and empower our opponents. 4/
These tariffs are justified with absurdly false, made-up statistics and claims about fentanyl, including wildly exaggerated claims about trafficking from Canada, which accounted for less than 1% of fentanyl seizures in FY23 according to CBP. 3/
Trump is raising your prices by a lot. The Budget Lab estimates it will raise prices by the equivalent of $1,250 per household. It will raise energy prices significantly, as well as food prices, car prices, and the prices of other goods and services. 2/
Donald Trump's tariffs will impose new taxes paid by the American people in ways that raise the cost of food, housing, medical care, and more. Trump is raising your prices. 1/
