I'm horrified by the mid-air collision in D.C. last night and thinking of all those lost and their loved ones. As we continue to monitor this tragedy, I thank the first responders and rescue teams who worked tirelessly throughout the night.
Egg prices are soaring. Bird flu is out of control. USDA should be fixing this problem. Instead, Trump is stacking the federal government with yes-men. He doesn’t care about your grocery prices.
NEW: “Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture [Phyllis Fong] out of her office on Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by the Trump administration.” www.reuters.com/world/us/usd...
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, I wish everyone celebrating in Hawaii and across the world a happy and safe Lunar New Year! 🐍🧧 May this year bring good health, happiness, and prosperity to all.
Federal funds have been critical in helping Lahaina recover. One week into his term, Trump is freezing that funding, along with billions that keep our keiki fed, kupuna healthy, and so much more. Trump doesn't care about the people of Hawaii, only his billionaire buddies.
As #WeRemember over 6 million Jewish people—in addition to the LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and other minorities killed during the Holocaust, we reaffirm: Never Again. And as a nation, we condemn any and all Nazi symbols. Every single American should agree. Period.
Trump said he'll use his power to invoke the xenophobic Alien Enemies Act of 1798—a law that's only been used 3x during times of war. My Neighbors Not Enemies Act would repeal this law and affirm the basic truth: immigrants are not enemies, but critical members of our communities and our country.
On what should be the 52nd anniversary of celebrating Roe v. Wade, we are reminded that the battles we thought we won, don't stay won. While Republicans mount attack after attack on reproductive rights, I'll continue fighting to preserve and expand women's freedoms.
The AG is our nation's chief law enforcement officer. The AG must be able to think independently, defend our Constitution, and stand up to the President when they are wrong. My concern is whether Pam Bondi's loyalty lies with Trump or our Constitution... We'll find out.
HIRONO: Would you carry out an order from President Trump to shoot protesters in the legs? HEGSETH: *dodges question* HIRONO: That sounds to me that you would comply with such an order. You still shoot protesters in the legs HEGSETH: *silent*
Numerous accounts of alleged workplace intoxication, sexual misconduct, bigoted remarks, and a total lack of experience are enough to deem Pete Hegseth unfit and unqualified to serve as Defense Secretary. He won’t be getting my vote, but we’ll see what he has to say for himself today.
