With everything going on in the world and in this country, we should be at work. I'm on my way to DC because the American people deserve representation. Speaker Johnson, why are you afraid to bring us back to do our jobs??
It was great to join Superintendent Corden and UCC President Pokrandt for a tour of Umpqua Community College’s new Medical Careers Hub and Welcome Center. These investments will strengthen healthcare education and help set students up for success.
First, I’m relieved that we have a two-week ceasefire with the Strait opened. That is positive. However, we need permanent peace and not a President buying time till he takes another motion to declare war or threaten genocide. We need the War Powers Act and to invoke the 25th Amendment now.
The President is too unstable to serve. The 25th Amendment needs to be invoked to stop the President from doing further damage to the safety and security of the US and the world. We should be called back to DC now to vote on the War Power's Resolution to stop the war.
2/ The White House is asking for $1.5 trillion in defense spending next year. It’s crazy to fund an agency that has failed 8 audits in a row and shovels money to private contractors who don’t treat their workers well.
It’s been one year since President Trump put his “Liberation Day” tariffs in place and his wild trade policy has hurt Americans and skyrocketed costs. Congress needs to take back its constitutionally directed power as an equal branch of government to 'regulate commerce with foreign nations.'
I testified to urge the VA to provide the matching funding to build the Roseburg State Veterans Home. Oregon has done its part and the veterans who served our country have definitely done their part. Now it’s time for Congress to do its part and deliver.
