The picture Trump is painting of Portland is just plain WRONG. And he’s doing it because he wants to tighten his authoritarian grip. Portland is calm. Our communities are strong. We will take care of one another.
Back in 2013, Trump said it was the President’s job to negotiate and avoid a shutdown. I don’t say this often, but he was right. Now, Trump is running away from the health care crisis HE created and stonewalling bipartisan negotiations. Failure of leadership on every level.
Republicans are making YOUR doctor's visit more expensive. Republicans are ripping health care away from 15 million Americans. Republicans are making health care premiums skyrocket for 20 million people. Now, they'd rather shut down the government than fix the mess they made.
Republicans forced through a budget that will make YOUR health care more expensive, if you can keep it at all. Now, they’d rather shut down the government than fix the health care crisis THEY CREATED.
Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Portland is right out of the authoritarian handbook: stoke violence and then use the violence to justify authoritarian measures. Don't take the bait.
Trump is sending troops to Portland with the goal of “doing a number” on the city. He wants to stoke fear and chaos and trigger violent interactions and riots to justify expanded authoritarian control. Let’s not take the bait! Portland is peaceful and strong and we will take care of each other.
Mike Johnson adjourned the House until AFTER the government funding deadline John Thune is bringing the Senate back just a day before the deadline Trump refuses to meet with negotiators Republicans are RUNNING AWAY from the health care crisis they created instead of working to avoid a shutdown.
Pregnant women not able to get the maternity care they need. Folks facing skyrocketing premiums. 15 million people kicked off their health care. This is Trump’s health care crisis, and Republicans would rather shut down the government than fix the mess they made.
Good to see Rigoberto Hernandez Hernandez released from ICE custody and reunited with his loved ones after being snatched off the frontlines of fighting the Bear Gulch Fire. Rigoberto’s arrest never should have happened, and I’ll work to hold the Trump Administration accountable.
Make no mistake: Jimmy Kimmel will be back on the air because people across the country got loud about censorship. Disney isn’t the hero here—people of strong conscience are. Never forget the power of your voice, especially as Trump pushes us further into authoritarianism.
No baby should lose health care.   No senior should be kicked out of a nursing home.  No rural hospital should close.   That’s what Donald Trump and Republicans’ budget let’s happen — all to make their billionaire buddies even richer.   Democrats won’t let that stand.
Yanking broadcast licenses from TV outlets because you don’t like what they’re saying is an authoritarian assault on free speech. It’s un-American and just plain wrong. Donald Trump is trampling on the Constitution.
