Be sure to thank a teacher this week! Teachers show us the way, educate the next generation, & help build thriving communities. We must support our teachers & ensure public schools are modern, fully-equipped, welcoming community assets. #TeacherAppreciationWeek2025
Trump’s budget & tariffs are punishing Americans and threatening our economy. Trump wants deep cuts to health care, public safety & disaster relief. But he still wants the public to pay $300M for things like his golf outings to his private golf courses. No cuts there!
I led successful fight against Trump’s efforts to dismantle Nat’l Endowment for the Arts, Nat’l Endowment for the Humanities & IMLS during his first term. Now he’s back & trying again. And once again, I’m fighting tooth & nail to stop him.
At Rhode Island KIDS COUNT’s 2025 Factbook release, discussing progress we’ve made & the work ahead for ensuring vulnerable children and families have access to high-quality education & health care and helpful resources & support.
A little rain didn’t stop us from launching the critical Missing Move project today to complete final link between I-95 & Route 4. Proud to deliver $4M fed planning grant for this key connection & work with @whitehouse.senate.gov to secure $81M to get this project moving.
President Trump is running our economy into the ground and causing prices to go up instead of down. His unworkable ‘reopen Alcatraz proposal’ is a non-sensical attempt to distract from his economic failures.
Rhode Island & states across the nation are in a housing crisis. Trump’s solution: eliminate our nation’s largest grant program that builds affordable housing, cut vouchers, and eviscerate HUD by over 40%. Here is Trump’s plan:
It’s been nearly 79 years since Seaman Second Class Carmine Lombardi joined the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. Honored to join Mr. Lombardi & his family today to present him with military honors he earned during his service to our nation.
In advance of RI Independence Day (May 4), take a moment to enjoy the greatest, funniest, most absurd political break-up song about colonial oppression ever written by Rhode Island College supporter & national treasure, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
I am a hard NO on Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration. He was handpicked by Pres. Trump to run the agency into the ground & make it harder for seniors to access the Social Security benefits they earned.
Heading to Senate floor to speak about how the chaos and dysfunction of the Trump Administration is making America less safe. Trump just ousted his Nat'l Sec. Advisor, but Sec. Hegseth’s mismanagement and sloppiness have made DoD a mess. Our servicemembers & the American people deserve better.
GREAT NEWS: New $18.4 billion Navy submarine contract to boost Rhode Island workforce and help safeguard the nation. Thank you to the thousands of hardworking Rhode Islanders who contribute to building these next-gen submarines.
The Biden "Overhang” GDP GROWTH: End of Biden Admin: +2.4% Under Trump: -0.3% CONSUMER CONFIDENCE INDEX: End of Biden Admin: 104.7 Under Trump: 86 (lowest since COVID-19 outbreak) S&P 500: End of Biden Admin: 5,996.66 Under Trump: 5,503.64 (down 9%)
Every American deserves healthy air & clean water. Gutting these environmental grants harms public health, increases pollution, & kills jobs. In RI, the Trump cuts would halt $500,000 to combat childhood lead poisoning and $1 million to enhance our local waterways.
The Environmental Protection Agency plans to cancel a total of 781 grants issued under President Joe Biden, EPA lawyers wrote in a little-noticed court filing last week, nearly twice the number previously reported.
