Trying to whitewash the evils of slavery is beyond wrong.
Trump has never understood that what makes America great is that we have a system of government & Constitution that allow us to constantly improve ourselves — to ensure more freedom for ALL.
 THAT is the American story.
Remember when Trump fired thousands of IRS workers for "performance"?   Turns out they didn't even CONSIDER performance in their decision. These firings just make it harder for the IRS to go after tax cheats.  Want to fire people for bad performance? Start with Trump’s cabinet.
While demand for electricity is rising, Trump’s war on clean energy is cutting supply and driving up prices. Meanwhile, Trump is dismantling programs that help Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck pay their energy bills. Betrayal.
Years ago I passed a law requiring presidents to keep the public informed about how and when their taxpayer dollars were being spent.  The Trump Admin shut it down as part of their war on transparency, but the courts ordered them to reverse course. A small but important victory.
Once again Trump appears to have been played by Putin. No ceasefire. No imminent meeting between Putin and Zelensky. No near term prospect of Trump applying threatened sanctions. Putin got a meeting on U.S. soil, Trump got flattered by Putin. Advantage Putin. Shameful.
Another outrageous “plan” from Israel’s far-right minister Smotrich to expand illegal settlements in the West Bank to destroy the possibility of a Palestinian state. The US must flatly reject this & push for security and self determination for ALL as part of a two-state solution.
From the Eastern Shore of Maryland to communities across the country, patriots are standing up against the lawlessness of this administration. Thankful for the hundreds of Marylanders who joined our town hall at Chesapeake College today. We won’t stop fighting — not for one second.

Remember when Trump promised to lower prices “on Day 1”? Well, we’re over 200 days into this mess — and his tariff chaos is raising prices for Americans everywhere. I’m sure he’ll try to spin these numbers or fire someone to distract from them, but they don’t lie.
The Tice family has worked tirelessly for over a decade to get answers about the whereabouts of their beloved son — through 3 presidents and 4 administrations, and now during a new regime in Syria. I won't stop fighting alongside them to bring Austin home. (2/2)
Today marks 13 agonizing years since Marine Corps veteran and journalist Austin Tice disappeared in Syria. As I told his mom Debra in our latest meeting this week, the United States must use every resource at our disposal to bring him home. (1/2)
Part of what's driving the Trump Admin's attacks on NOAA is they want to privatize the National Weather Service. They made it clear in Project 2025 — instead of weather forecasts & climate data being a public good, they want to sell it to the highest bidder. A corrupt bargain.
What Trump is doing in DC isn't about “law and order.” If he cared about that, he wouldn’t have gutted DC’s ability to fund its own police force. This is about Trump playing king at the expense of DC's 700K residents. The American people must stand against this abuse of power.
Whitewashing this report doesn't change the facts — it just further tarnishes our credibility.   I remember when Secretary Rubio would shed light on human rights abuses around the world. Now he sugarcoats them to fit his boss's political narratives.   What a disgrace.
Before Republicans voted to gut Medicaid to fund billionaire tax cuts, they said the American people would just “get over it.” Tell that to the millions of Americans who are about to lose their coverage and the millions more who are about to see their costs skyrocket.
This is outrageous. These funds were intended to reconnect communities divided by a highway decades ago — allowing people to safely access grocery stores and other vital services.   There's nothing efficient about the Trump Admin revoking these funds. It's just mean.
And by the way, Trump couldn't care less about safety in DC or the people of DC. If he did, he wouldn't have blocked DC from spending $1 billion of its OWN money to fund its OWN police department, schools and more. This is flatly about testing the limits of his power.
