House Republicans, on the orders of their Dear Leader, just passed their billionaire tax giveaway at the expense of everyone else. This bill slashes Medicaid & food & nutrition programs & explodes the deficit, driving up interest rates and costs. We must defeat it in the Senate.
I’m appalled by the vile attack on those attending an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, that has taken the lives of two Israeli Embassy aides. I’m praying for them and their loved ones. This is a horrific act of violence and antisemitism and the perpetrator must be brought to justice.
There’s been a lot of drama from House Republicans today, but it boils down to this: They’re working around the clock to cut taxes for billionaires like Elon Musk while gutting Medicaid and vital services that benefit all Americans. It’s Exhibit A of the Great Trump Betrayal.
We already know Republicans want to gut Medicaid to pay for their billionaire tax cut. Now the nonpartisan CBO says their plan would add so much to the deficit that it would force huge cuts to MEDICARE too. They've put health care on the chopping block.
Marco Rubio used to defend free speech wherever it was threatened. Now he's snatching students off the street for exercising First Amendment rights — an authoritarian crusade that would make McCarthy himself blush. I would ask "have you no decency," but I already know the answer.
Trump and Musk set out to put dedicated federal workers ‘in trauma’ — and that’s exactly what they’ve done. And tormented federal workers aren’t the only victims. The American people who no longer benefit from their public service suffer too. Shameful.
The Marco Rubio who testified today is not the one I served with in the Senate. He has had a full MAGA lobotomy. Today I directly told him about the many ways he has betrayed American values and interests:
I met with Ruth in El Salvador just over a month ago to discuss the abysmal human rights situation there. This news of her likely disappearance is exactly the kind of abuse she warned about. The Bukele regime must release her NOW.
#ElSalvador | URGENT 📣 Ruth is likely the victim of short-term enforced disappearance. As of now, neither her family nor her legal team has been able to confirm her whereabouts or the detention center where she is being held.
Thanks to Trump's disastrous USDA cuts, DMV food banks have lost 1.4 MILLION meals and food banks nationally are struggling to meet growing demand. There's nothing "efficient" about taking food from people in need. It's just more cruelty from Trump and his cabinet of billionaires.
Understand this about Trump’s trip to the Gulf: He sold out our national interest for his family's business interest — giving away key U.S. tech innovations to Gulf countries while they cut deals with his advance man, Eric Trump. This isn't America First. It’s Trump Profits First.
Let food into Gaza NOW! Netanyahu and his government are starving 2 million civilians. This is day 76 of the blockade. Trucks with food are waiting to get in but are blocked. Children have already died from withholding food. The U.S. is complicit in this gross violation of international law.
The Trump Admin’s attempt to shield itself from a 9-0 SCOTUS order to “facilitate” the return of and due process for Abrego Garcia by invoking the states secrets privilege is laughable. They are trying to make a mockery of the rule of law. Glad the courts are not falling for it.
Heartbroken by the loss of two of Maryland’s finest heroes. Lt. Mark Dranbauer and Charles Mudra served their community for years — putting themselves on the line to keep Marylanders safe.    My prayers are with their loved ones and with the entire Baltimore City Fire Dept.
Today I was in Allegany County getting a first-hand look at the impact of the enormous flooding. I’m inspired by the team spirit and can-do attitude of the local officials, first responders and community members responding to this crisis, and will fully support their recovery efforts.
Today Republicans blocked our bill to hold the Trump Admin and the government of El Salvador accountable for their conspiracy to violate due process rights of people living in the U.S. This isn't just about Mr. Abrego Garcia — this is about defending the rights of ALL. Shameful.
Remember when Republicans pretended to care about deficits? I'm sure you do since it was literally six months ago and for four years before that.
Now they're perfectly fine adding $2.5 trillion to the deficit to pay for their billionaire tax giveaway — while gutting Medicaid. Sadly predictable.
The VP of El Salvador repeatedly told me "the ball is in your court" when it comes to bringing Abrego Garcia home — making clear Trump is violating a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling to “facilitate” his return. I said this in my recent letter to Trump, and here's the video to back it up:
