We’re not even close to ready for the massive chaos AI is going to going to unleash on our economy. I’m introducing legislation to help employers retrain their employees, so more Americans are ready for the rapidly evolving workforce. Let’s get it done & stay ahead of these massive shifts.
A historic day for Virginia – proud to unveil the new statue of Barbara Johns, a student who bravely led the fight for school integration, which will be permanently displayed in the Capitol. Amidst so much darkness, it’s a reminder that in many ways, we’re still moving forward.
A heavy world reels from so many tragedies this weekend. In the face of despair, we pray, grieve, and reflect. And we must also promise to move forward with action, and work to curb gun violence and hate-fueled extremism. A better world is still possible.
Devastated to hear that one of the students senselessly killed at Brown this weekend was Midlothian High School graduate Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. Today, pause to remember Mukhammad, read about his life, and think of his family.

I’m heartbroken to see another college campus torn apart by violence, and I’m thinking of victims and their families in Providence. But we need more than thoughts & prayers — students shouldn’t fear horrific mass shootings. We can and must act on gun safety legislation.
I am heartbroken by the deadly attack on the Jewish community in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah. As antisemitism rises around the world, we must call it out and denounce it wherever it appears. My condolences to the victims and their loved ones.
