Richard Blumenthal is an American politician and attorney serving as the senior United States senator from the state of Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been a member of the Senate since 2011. Blumenthal previously served as U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, and as the 23rd Connecticut attorney general.

Up to this point Trump’s public explanation for these attacks has been lacking in key respects & seriously flawed. The American people shouldn’t be kept in the dark about the supposed legal reasoning for this action.
Once I reviewed the classified OLC memo last week—after the Admin delayed access—I felt disappointed & dissatisfied with the supposed legal justification for attacks in the Caribbean & East Pacific. I'm calling for public release so Americans can assess it for themselves.
The Trump Admin has conducted 21 unauthorized military strikes in the Caribbean & East Pacific—killing 83 people—without giving Americans a full explanation. I’m leading my colleagues in demanding the declassification & public release of documents justifying these airstrikes.
Granting hate symbols like swastikas & nooses even an ounce of respectability is absolutely an anathema. Sec. Noem should be ashamed & Americans outraged. This edict besmirches the Coast Guard’s honor & should be immediately reversed.
