Extremely humbling to be at the Job and Resource fair earlier today. A huge thank you to @beyer.house.gov for working with @alyia4alx.com and others on this. I am so proud to live somewhere that has responded so quickly to help so many people affected by all of these changes in our gov.

I just attended a hearing in federal court for my constituent, Dr. Badar Khan Suri, who was detained without charges and imprisoned without due process in Texas, far from his wife and young children. He is in America legally, a postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown. My statement:
"Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., who represents more than 72,000 federal workers, is introducing legislation to make it easier for government employees removed under the Trump administration to rejoin agencies and to deter a future president from undertaking a mass firing of the workforce."

This afternoon @beyer.house.gov is attending a federal court hearing at the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria in the case of Suri vs. Trump, to show support for Dr. Badar Khan Suri
I just met with legal counsel for my constituent, Dr. Badar Khan Suri. Dr. Suri is a global conflict scholar at Georgetown who was detained without explanation by masked agents outside his Arlington home, then disappeared without due process to a prison 1,300 miles from his wife and children. 1/

Pete Hegseth has to go too. No excuse at all to keep him in this job, he screwed up numerous times and is doing things anyone who serves under him would have been fired for. Any other president would fired someone this incompetent a long time ago.
FOX NEWS ALERT: Mike Waltz out as Trump's national security adviser
Trump had the worst stock market performance to start a presidency in 50 years. Recession forecasts are getting grim. It's so bad that Trump is trying to blame others and distance himself from an economy he promised would ‘flourish’ ‘from this day forward' on January 20th. 3/
This report showed inflation rising even before we see the worst impacts of Trump’s tariffs. Private sector hiring in April declined sharply. Consumer confidence fell to its lowest point in three decades. Consumer expectations are worse than they were during the pandemic. 2/
Trump’s chaos is clearly and significantly raising the risk of a recession, and the economic warning lights are all flashing red. The economy just shrank in the first three months of Trump’s presidency, after years of growth and a strong previous quarter. 1/
The U.S. economy shrank by 0.3% in first quarter of 2025, the first drop in three years as Trump's trade wars disrupt businesses.
