The United States spent nearly twenty years fighting a war in the Middle East that left this country in a weaker position than when it started. Thousands of U.S. military personnel killed and permanently injured. Families shattered. Trillions in new debt. Our standing in the world diminished.
The Pentagon is raising concerns to President Trump about an extended military campaign against Iran, advising that war plans being considered carry risks including U.S. and allied casualties, depleted air defenses and an overtaxed force. on.wsj.com/40vkhly

Democrats will introduce a bill that would bar DHS opening new immigration detention centers without state and local officials’ consent. “Our new bill responds directly to the concerns we’ve heard from local officials," Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said.
The last thing this country needs right now is another war in the Middle East that would add trillions to the national debt while putting countless lives at risk. That’s why I proudly co-sponsored H.Con.Res. 38, an Iran War Powers Resolution to prevent U.S. military action.
In light of the U.S. military buildup within striking distance of Iran, it is imperative that the War Powers Act be honored. No president has the authority to unilaterally use military force without the approval of Congress.
Team USA brings out the best in young people and gives all Americans something to root for. I am immensely proud of the men and women who brought home the gold and made history in Milan! To all of the athletes who competed in this year's games, rest assured that you made us proud.
