On today's Democratic Daily Download, @usrepkathycastor.bsky.social explains how the GOP Tax Scam will increase electric bills for families and small businesses by ripping away investments in clean energy.

Republicans are trying to take health care away from almost 14 million Americans in the dead of night.
I reminded them to their faces just how many of their constituents they're screwing over so billionaires can get trillions in tax cuts.
Heartbroken by the passing of my friend Gerry Connolly, a fierce defender of democracy. With a sharp wit and a passion for public service, he always spoke up—with the Boston accent he never lost—for what is right and just. I’ll be praying for his family, friends and staff.

House Republicans are so ashamed of the GOP Tax Scam that they are planning a 1 AM committee meeting tonight to jam it through Congress.
In today's Democratic Daily Download, @repmcgovern.bsky.social breaks down what's in this ugly bill and what Democrats are doing to stop it.
If Donald Trump's big beautiful tax break for billionaires is so great... why not pass it in prime time? Why jam it through in the middle of the night? What don't they want you to know?
They have such contempt for the American people.
This is a lie. Trump betrayed law enforcement officers when he issued 1,500+ pardons for people who attacked the police on January 6th, disrespecting and dishonoring all the officers who stood up to the violent mob that day.

Moving to adjourn delayed the markup and forced Republicans to come back to their seats and hear firsthand about the moms and dads, kids and working families they are stealing food assistance from with Trump’s awful, ugly bill.
Where are all the Republicans as their committee votes to steal food assistance from families who have fallen on hard times? They know they can’t defend this shit—so they just leave!

The Republican-proposed SNAP cut would be the largest rollback of an anti-hunger program in our nation’s history. It will take food off the table for families and single moms, force rural grocery stores to close and make our farmers poorer.
It’s a hard no from me.

Unlike some of my colleagues, I relied on food stamps growing up.
With Congress debating the Republican plan to enact the largest SNAP cut in history, I talked about my experience and how my mom needed those benefits to make sure we were fed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS9c...

WATCH: @repmcgovern.bsky.social explains how Republicans are betraying Americans in need of food assistance just so they can give the rich a tax handout.
She was unlawfully detained for six weeks in an ICE facility in Louisiana, where she suffered intolerable living conditions and multiple intense and worsening asthma attacks. She is a cherished member of our community, and I am glad that she is finally back in Massachusetts.
I am relieved that Rümeysa had been released. But she should have never been abducted off the streets of Somerville, had her visa revoked, or been moved to a detention site more than 1,500 miles away—all in violation of her constitutional rights.
Dr. Hayden has been an exceptionally brilliant Librarian of Congress. Her termination is yet another outrageous, uncalled for, shameful attack on intellectual freedom and truth.
At a time of rising authoritarianism and deepening inequality, the world desperately needs a church that defends the poor, stands up for human rights, & opens its doors to those who’ve long been left out. I pray that Pope Leo will meet this moment with courage, humility, and a commitment to justice.
Pope Leo has consistently stood with people struggling in poverty, those who are victims of repression, the immigrant community, and those who the governments of the world have forgotten—and I hope he will continue to lead with that same spirit of compassion and global solidarity.
Today, history was made. For the first time ever, an American has been chosen to lead the Catholic Church. I join people of all faiths in welcoming Pope Leo XIV and praying for wisdom, strength, and moral clarity as he begins his papacy.

We endorse Rep. Cohen, Rep. McGovern & Sen. Whitehouse’s resolution condemning the administration’s assault on the free press, including the defunding of USAGM. These acts threaten free expression at home & embolden authoritarians abroad, endangering all journalists.
