Today, we celebrate International Day of Light—which marks the anniversary of the first successful laser surgery in 1960 by Theodore Maiman. I introduced my resolution to make today "National Day of Light" across America.
Grateful to meet with the Urban League of Rochester team in D.C. Their dedication to advancing workforce development, community safety, and voting rights is creating lasting impact in communities of color across #ROC. Excited to keep building on this important work together.
During #NationalWomensHealthWeek, we must recommit to protecting reproductive health for women everywhere. Republicans are trying to defund Planned Parenthood—putting essential care like cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing at risk. Women's health is not optional.
President Trump is trying to hijack the Library of Congress. It’s not just inappropriate—it’s illegal. We can’t stand by while the executive branch invades the authority of Congress.
As global threats evolve, it's vital that our Navy and Marine Corps personnel are fully equipped to respond and protect our nation. Watch the House Committee on Appropriations hearing where we discussed how we're investing in their safety and readiness ⬇️
House Democrats demand the plaque honoring the officers who responded on January 6th & protected our U.S. Capitol be properly displayed—as the law states. I saw it in the Capitol basement. It’s a shame the Speaker & House Republicans won’t honor those who protected all of us on that dark day.
In honor of Police Week here on Capitol Hill, I introduced a Resolution to direct the @uscapitol.bsky.social to install the plaque. Unfortunately, my Republican colleagues continue to disrespect the officers who risked and gave their lives protecting the Capitol on January 6th.
President Trump fired the head of the Copyright Office—a direct attack on Congressional authority and a clear-cut abuse of power. This isn’t about left or right. It’s about protecting the separation of powers.
During #PoliceWeek, we honor the law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to keep us safe. Trump’s budget proposal would cut law enforcement funding by billions of dollars. I'm fighting to support police departments and secure resources to help them protect our communities.
President's Trump's unprecedented power grab against the Library of Congress is a disgrace. I'll be on @msnbc.com's Deadline: White House this afternoon to talk about it. Tune in.
It was a pleasure to visit Lollypop Farm for a tour of their facility and to hear about the important work they do for our community. Their efforts help thousands of animals every year.
Cuts to Medicaid will leave seniors and children without care and gut hospitals and long-term care facilities. We cannot allow the largest Medicaid cuts in American history, especially not in the name of billionaire donors getting trillions in tax cuts.
Tomorrow morning around 5:40am I'll be on @waytooearly.bsky.social with @alivitali.bsky.social to discuss Trump's baseless firings of the Librarian of Congress and the Register of Copyrights.

Tune in.
The Trump administration’s decision to end deportation protections for Afghans is unconscionable. Many of these refuges fled their homes after aiding the U.S. military against the Taliban. To turn our back on American allies seeking safety from violence and terror is unacceptable.
The baseless firing of the Librarian of Congress and illegitimate removal of the Copyright Office Director is an assault on Congressional authority and independence. I've asked the Library of Congress Inspector General to investigate potential improper access to confidential congressional data.
May is #OlderAmericansMonth, a time to honor our seniors and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them as they age. Protecting the benefits they rely on like Social Security is a promise we must uphold. I'm fighting to ensure every older American has the resources they need to age with dignity.
