📣 Students interested in attending a U.S. service academy can apply for a nomination from my office at magaziner.house.gov/services/mil.... It is one of my greatest honors to support the next generation of leaders from #RI02. Deadline for applications is November 3.
Outside my DC office is a replica plaque honoring the officers who defended the Capitol on Jan 6th, some of whom lost their lives. The real plaque is in storage, waiting for Speaker Johnson to hang it. We will never forget the brave men and women who defended our Capitol that day.
Today we heard from Rhode Island doctors about how patients will suffer if health insurance costs spike due to Congressional Republicans blocking Affordable Care Act funds. Higher costs, longer wait times, less access. We cannot allow a budget to pass without health care funding.
Every fall, @AmeriCorps members take the pledge to get things done for America and Rhode Island. I was proud to celebrate Opening Day with ServeRI and the 40+ new AmeriCorps members committing to a year of service in Providence.
Happy Diwali! 🪔 I had a wonderful time celebrating with the India Association of Rhode Island. Diwali reminds us that light will always triumph over darkness and good will always prevail. Wishing everyone peace, joy, and prosperity in the year ahead!
Seven years ago today, 11 innocent lives were taken at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh - the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history. We remember the victims & reaffirm our commitment to confronting antisemitism and hate in all its forms.🕯️
I am following the news concerning the unacceptable antisemitic bullying at Smithfield high school. I hope that this unacceptable event will be a learning experience for people of all ages of the dangers of antisemitism.
I had the honor of presenting a Purple Heart & other honors to Sylvia from Johnston. They were earned by her uncle Richard Vertz who was killed defending our freedom in WWII. His sacrifice & those of others who laid down their lives for our country must never be forgotten.
I visited WellOne Health Center in Pascoag to discuss how #RI02 is feeling the urgency of incoming health care cuts from Washington. Providers & patients understand that we need to bring down costs and extend ACA tax credits that help 40k+ Rhode Islanders afford coverage.
