Today, I spoke at press conference with @MayorBowser at @ChildrensNatl to condemn the proposed cut to D.C.’s FMAP. This cut would create a $1.1 billion gap in D.C.’s budget and is another attack on D.C. from House Republicans. Read my full remarks here: bit.ly/44S0K2d
In 2024, antisemitic incidents in the United States were the highest number on record for the sixth year in a row. Jewish people have made countless contributions to DC. One of the best ways to counter hate is to uplift Jewish voices and contributions. #OurSharedHeritage
I held my #congressionalartcompetition reception last night at #dca. Congratulations to Megan Duncan from Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School for taking first place with her piece, Tierra de Patagonia. Megan’s artwork will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
I introduced my resolution to designate today, May 1st, as #DCStatehood Day. Every day is a great day to make DC the 51st state, but 5-1 is especially meaningful. Read my full release here: bit.ly/4jxxP85

Cuts to Medicaid would decimate emergency services, raise costs, & diminish reliable health care in the nation's capital.
I led a letter with @eleanornorton.bsky.social & Sen. @vanhollen.senate.gov to condemn the impact these cuts would have in our region & beyond.

Republicans are considering reducing DC's Medicaid federal match by 20%, which would devastate DC and those from other places who get care in DC, including federal officials, their staffs, visitors, and children from all 50 states who get care at Children's National.

I was pleased to attend today’s announcement on the redevelopment and revitalization of the RFK campus, now under the District’s control thanks to my bill to transfer administrative jurisdiction of the campus from the federal government.
It's past time for the federal government to catch up with the American people and legalize adult-use marijuana nationally.
Until then, Congress should keep its #HandsOffDC's cannabis policy, as I said today at the National Cannabis Policy Summit.
To ensure that the head of CSOSA for DC and director of the Pretrial Services Agency are connected to the residents they serve, I introduced a bill to require them to reside in DC during their terms.

Join me at a reception this Wednesday, 4/30 at DCA Historic Terminal A from 5:30-7:00 pm to celebrate students from across DC who participated in the 44th Annual Congressional Art Competition.
My constituent’s father, Tofig Yagublu, is on day 24 of his hunger strike in Azerbaijani prison and is rapidly losing weight.
According to @hrw and @amnesty, Tofig is a political prisoner. I urge @presidentaz to provide him with proper medical care and ultimately release him.
More than 2,000 DC residents are serving sentences in BOP facilities across the country, far from their support systems.
I introduced my bill to require them to be placed within 250 miles of DC, increasing their chances for successful reentry.
Fertility challenges don’t discriminate—and neither should access to care.
This #NationalInfertilityAwarenessWeek, I’m proud to support policies that uplift all families, regardless of who they are or where they live.
The Trump admin admitted Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported mistakenly, yet he remains imprisoned in El Salvador.
I joined my colleagues in writing to President Trump requesting an immediate update and urging his administration to comply with the Supreme Court’s order and facilitate his return.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests billions in cleaner and greener roads, bridges, transportation options, EV infrastructure and more.
This #EarthDay, I’m celebrating these game-changing investments which are putting DC on track for a greener future.
Pope Francis was the embodiment of compassion and kindness. His teachings helped make the world a better place.
Although he’s physically gone, his work bringing the church forward will inspire future generations.
I introduced my resolution recognizing the single largest known slave escape in American history, which happened in DC on the ship the Pearl.
Especially now, DC residents should be encouraged thinking of these brave people who succeeded despite all odds.

I introduced my Emancipation Day resolution to mark the date when President Lincoln freed 3,100 enslaved individuals in DC, nine months before the Emancipation Proclamation.
The holiday has new significance this year, as DC is actively denied autonomy over its own local budget.
