It was a honor to be with Bishop Jonathan G. Willis and the congregations of the C.O.G.I.C. Virginia Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction this evening during the 59th Annual Holy Convocation
I stopped by the Last Bell of Summer: A Health and Wellness Celebration” this afternoon
The event was an great opportunity for the public to receive free health screenings (I had a blood pressure checkup), healthcare enrollment assistance and school supplies for students
I spent part of my day with the young people who attended the Sister to Sister & Brother to Brother Annual Education Day
The program included interactive workshops and offered opportunities for attendees to cultivate life skills, including cooking, wellness and entrepreneurship
I enjoyed having lunch with the retired federal employees from NARFE Chapter 682
They asked me to give an update on my work during the 119th Congress. Also, I heard their concerns about the current lack of protections for federal retirees’ personal health data & earned benefits
During the program, Secretary Figueroa gave an update on how the Commonwealth is now offsetting this federal cuts and I gave remarks on my push for policies that lower costs, expand access to care, strengthen Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act
The Big Ugly Law has targeted SNAP, which has threatened food security for millions of families and more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act
It was a pleasure welcoming Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources Marvin Figueroa to Hampton Roads for the "What's Next for SNAP & Medicaid: Stakeholder Update"
On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act became law. While SCOTUS further weakened the VRA this summer, Virginia is moving in the right direction. Thanks to Governor Spanberger and the General Assembly for enacting laws to make our elections more accessible, transparent, and secure.

Earlier this evening, I presented a check for $750,000 in Community Project Funding to the City of Newport News to support the Friday Night Nets program

I was honored to give remarks today during the Closing Ceremony for the Youth Career Program, an initiative for youth aged 16-17 and young adults aged 18-24
The program is designed to empower and nurture young people while exposing them to hands-on work experience
The 25,000-square-foot facility will consolidate test capabilities into a single, state-of-the-art wind tunnel, which will significantly improve performance capacity, reduce maintenance and lower operating costs
