This week, I met with Taiwanese students and families to help welcome them to the community, discuss the close ties between America and Taiwan, and share how cultural exchanges like these through Phoenix Sister Cities make us stronger. Thanks Wen Chyi Chiu and Lin Ling Lee for bringing us together!
Every second counts in an emergency. This morning I joined Phoenix Fire Chief Duran, @mayorgallego.bsky.social, & Councilman Robinson to open a brand new fire station in Ahwatukee. Station 74 will help reduce response times and save lives. Proud to have secured $1 million in funding to get it done.
Congratulations to the Taipei Chinese Culture Summer Camp of Arizona for celebrating 30 years! What started as a way to build cultural bridges between Phoenix and Taiwan has grown into a partnership serving hundreds of kids each year.
A great meeting with TSMC Arizona President Rose Castanares. To win the global competition for AI leadership, we need to lead the world in the research, development and manufacturing of cutting-edge semiconductors.
Americans have a right to know what happened with their data. If the Trump administration refuses to provide answers to the government’s watchdog, @housedemocrats.bsky.social will force them to once we retake the majority. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Congressional oversight exists for moments like this. The American people need to know the conditions inside the ICE detention center for families and children. I won't let this administration hide from accountability.
The mother and son arrived in San Antonio this afternoon. Our children should be at school and with their family and friends. Not locked away at the Dilley trailer prison. Thank you @repgregstanton.bsky.social for seeing the conditions at Dilley firsthand and fighting against this cruelty.
My office is aware that a Tempe parent and student were detained by ICE and are currently being transported to the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas. We are in contact with school and local officials, and my team is working urgently to reach the family.
I just returned from a visit to Dilley yesterday, where I met with families in similar circumstances. What I saw there was heartbreaking, and this case reflects the same outrageous, misguided priorities under Trump's mass deportation agenda.
