🚨Attention #RI01 High Schoolers: Submissions are due this Friday, April 18th for the 2025 Congressional Art Challenge.🎨 Check out my website for more information: amo.house.gov/services/art...
Calling all high school artists in #RI01 to apply for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition!🎨 This year’s competition is officially OPEN. I look forward to applications interpreting our theme – Hope in the Ocean State. I can’t wait to see what up and coming Rhode Island artists create! 🌊
I call on the president to comply with the court order and deliver these Congressionally-approved investments for communities in our state and across the country.
Advocating for DOGE? 😾 Advocating for dogs (& cats, wildlife, and farmed animals)? 😻 Thank you to the Humane World Action Fund for your dedicated work in Congress to end animal cruelty and abuse.
You know what’s better than a letter? Actually voting against the bill that opened the door to “massive cuts.” I’m glad that raising the alarm is having an impact. But we need to keep up public pressure until harmful Republican cuts are actually off the table. punchbowl.news/article/hous...
7/ In short, Social Security is the largest anti-poverty program in U.S. history. It’s about values — seniors shouldn’t live in poverty. Congress must protect Americans who paid into Social Security and deserve its financial security & stability. Let’s keep making our voices heard.
6/ And finally, our office continues to assist Rhode Islanders in the First Congressional District whenever they need help dealing with Social Security Administration. We’re here to help because no one should feel like they’re fighting for their benefits alone. bsky.app/profile/amo....
While our casework team is helping in #RI01, I’m working to push back in Congress and call attention to these unacceptable back-door cuts to Social Security.
5/ In January, I convened leaders and advocates to raise awareness about senior fraud. Far too many seniors in Rhode Island have been the victim of scams, which is why I’m working to crack down on those who seek to take advantage of them and their retirement. bsky.app/profile/amo....
Thank you to the FTC, roundtable participants, and all who came together today to ensure RIers have the resources to protect themselves from scams.   For more information check out resources on the FTC website here: consumer.ftc.gov/scams
4/ When the #SocialSecurityFairnessAct was stalled, I helped force a vote to repeal penalties that robbed public service employees of their benefits. Our RI delegation pushed for this law which has benefited 7,000+ Rhode Islanders & returned $50M+ in retroactive payments. bsky.app/profile/amo....
Amidst attacks on public employees, I was grateful to celebrate the #SocialSecurityFairnessAct — a long overdue law that rightfully restored hard-earned Social Security benefits to public service employees like teachers, firefighters, and police officers, including 7,600 Rhode Islanders.
3/ Last year, I welcomed my colleague Rep. Larson to East Providence to discuss the #SocialSecurity2100Act — a bill to increase benefits across the board for the first time in 50 years. Proud to be fighting next to a longtime champion for dignity in retirement that seniors deserve.
On this Day of Action, as Trump and Elon work overtime to gut Social Security, we all have to stand up and protect it. Since being sworn into Congress, I have. For the 230,000 RIers who rely on the program, I’m fighting to expand benefits & push back on proposed cuts. How? 🧵
There’s no other way to spin this. The president wants to deport American citizens and lock them up in foreign prisons. Every single Member of Congress — regardless of party — should be on record against this illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional scheme.
Trump to Bukele: "Home-growns are next. The home-growns. You gotta build about five more places. It's not big enough."
As Trump cuts programs that Veterans rely on, I met with the Military Officers Association of America to discuss how Congress should: 🏠 invest in better housing for servicemembers ⏰ end long wait times to access health care for Veterans 🇺🇸 and expand job opportunities for military families.
On today’s Social Security Day of Action, the contrast is clear. Trump, Musk, and DOGE are enacting backdoor cuts by cutting staff and phone service, and driving up wait times. Democrats are working to protect and expand Social Security by making the wealthy pay their fair share.
Last I checked, Stephen Miller isn’t on the Supreme Court. The Trump administration violated the law by deporting Mr. Garcia and is now is defying a court order by refusing to bring him back. Every American should be outraged at these wannabe kings trampling over the Constitution.
Trump: The supreme court, it was 9-0? Miller: In our favor, against the district court ruling, saying no district court has the power to compel the foreign policy
In cutting to the bone of scientific research and slashing critical USAID programs, the Trump administration is putting America last. I’m joining my colleagues to demand that Trump end the chaos wrought by DOGE and Elon Musk once and for all.
Rhode Island *is* the nicest state, so it’s no surprise that our 2025 Cherry Blossom Princess Delegate was awarded Miss Congeniality in this year’s celebration. Congratulations Sophia and thank for all that you do to represent our community!
Firing, then rehiring, and now re-firing. This is insanity. NOAA employees work every single day to keep our nation safe — they deserve so much better than this. That’s why I’m joining forces with Rep Zoe Lofgren on a bill to stop this chaos once and for all. thepublicsradio.org/politics/noa...
