ICYMI: I’m holding a town hall meeting in Hillsboro tomorrow at 6 p.m. Please avoid bringing large bags and backpacks to the event. For more details, please visit my website. I hope to see you there!
Meanwhile, my House GOP colleagues are considering steep cuts to essential services and programs like Medicaid to pay for a new round of tax cuts that will benefit the wealthy.
Unelected billionaire Elon Musk is laying off people at the IRS, meaning that rich people like him will more easily get out of paying their fair share.

Multnomah County's eight severe weather shelters will stay open all day Friday, Feb. 14, through at least 10 a.m. on Sat, Feb. 15, as conditions are expected to start to improve. Additional beds will also be added today at several severe weather shelter locations: multco.us/cold (1/2)
NEW: I’m joining Senator Merkley for two town hall meetings on the North Coast next Saturday. We look forward to answering your questions at Neah-Kah-Nie High School and Clatsop Community College.

The sun is shining and temps are warming, so the thaw is coming. You can help make sidewalks passible faster by shoveling them. This helps neighbors walk to the nearest bus stop and generally makes it easier for everybody to get around - postal workers, neighbors, pets...everyone
When federal funding goes to public schools, there is transparency and accountability. But as I heard from an expert witness at a recent @democrats-edworkforce.house.gov Committee hearing, that's not the case if public dollars go to private schools.

I continue to hear about the urgent need for more affordable housing in every corner of NW Oregon. The legislation I’m leading could quickly increase the amount of affordable housing and the support services people need to get ahead.

Happy Birthday, Oregon! 🎂
In honor of our great state's 166th birthday, a few of us in the Oregon delegation put together a video of fun facts we love about our home state. Watch it below 👇

If you’re an Oregonian who’s glad you stayed home today because of the snow and ice, thank a NOAA scientist!
Accurate forecasting by the National Weather Service—part of NOAA—is essential for emergency planning, but that’s under threat by the Trump administration.

If you need to drive, use caution on snow or ice and give plows extra space. Please do not pass County snow plows and avoid abandoning your vehicles. They can become obstacles for crews which delays clearing roads & can potentially cause unnecessary closures.
The new administration has been in office for less than a month and already we’re seeing extreme attacks on public education. On behalf of millions of students across the country, I hope all of my colleagues will oppose attempts to defund public schools.
Education is one of the best investments we can make, yet this administration wants to cut important funding that supports low-income students and students with disabilities. We are here to fight back!
Donald Trump and his unelected co-president Elon Musk want to destroy public education and use public dollars for unaccountable private schools. #EduSky

Severe weather shelters will reopen tonight (Wednesday, February 12) at 8 p.m. and remain open until at least noon on Thursday, February 13: multco.us/cold (1/3)
It’s shameful that the Trump administration and Elon Musk are trying to take away resources and learning opportunities from students with disabilities. #EduSky
An Oregon mom who has two kids with special needs called my office because she’s worried that they won’t be able to attend kindergarten if the Department of Education is eliminated.
