An Oregon mom who has two kids with special needs called my office because she’s worried that they won’t be able to attend kindergarten if the Department of Education is eliminated.

Due to Multnomah County's current state of emergency, TriMet won't turn away anyone riding to or from an emergency warming shelter who cannot pay fare when the warming shelters are open. Please tell your bus operator that you're heading to or from a warming shelter.
For less than 1% of our federal budget USAID feeds the hungry, provides lifesaving treatment, invests in American farmers, and promotes national security.
Trump and Musk’s plan to shut down USAID is inhumane and shortsighted.
Quality research and data improve public education so more students have an opportunity to succeed.
Donald Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk show how little they care by defunding the research that informs the entire system of public education.
Trump and Musk don’t own NOAA; NOAA belongs to the American people.
NOAA is on the chopping block, and that’s infuriating. The scientists at NOAA make us safer and stronger. They forecast weather, track wildfires, provide tsunami warning, respond to climate change, and more, and they are especially important for coastal communities.
NW Oregon: save the date for these upcoming in-person town hall meetings. Tillamook and Clatsop County details will be released soon.
I hope you can join me! I look forward to hearing from you and answering your questions.
It is illegal and unconstitutional for the Trump administration to freeze funding that Congress already approved. A judge ordered the administration to halt the freeze, but now Trump is ignoring the order. Reminder: the Rule of Law matters.
We won’t stand by and let Musk and Trump threaten your hard-earned dollars.
Since its inception, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has put about $21 billion back in the pockets of Oregonians and Americans. It’s no wonder that unelected billionaire Elon Musk wants to eliminate the CFPB and make it easier for predatory lenders and scammers to cheat consumers.

This isn’t an attack on a building in Washington DC; it is an attack on every public school in America. I’ll continue speaking out for students, educators, and public education.
Barring Members of Congress from entering the Department of Education on Friday shows how far Elon Musk and Donald Trump are willing to go. They want to dismantle this essential agency behind closed doors.
For those of you with questions about where the dollars go, please fact check the claims: www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
I’m grateful that a court temporarily stopped the attack on USAID and I hope the jobs and funding are fully restored soon.
Every bag of food and vial of medicine says it is from the United States of America, which builds our leadership around the globe and helps keep us safe. Additionally, the food and medicine is purchased from US farmers and companies, bolstering our economy.
Funding for USAID is only about one percent of the federal budget, and it is money well spent. The funding is saving lives around the world, but it is also important for soft power.
Trump and Musk’s relentless attacks on democracy are designed to create fear, but we are fighting back. If you want to track the litigation challenging this administration, you can find a helpful tracker here: www.democracy2025.org/response-cen...

Armed officers blocked Oregon U.S. Rep. Bonamici, Congressional Dems, from entering the U.S. Department of Education building Friday as they sought a meeting with the agency’s director about reports Trump was planning illegal action to abolish the agency.
