Due to Multnomah County's current state of emergency, TriMet won't turn away anyone riding to or from an emergency warming shelter who cannot pay fare when the warming shelters are open. Please tell your bus operator that you're heading to or from a warming shelter.
This is a photo of a TriMet bus rolling southbound on SW 5th Avenue
For less than 1% of our federal budget USAID feeds the hungry, provides lifesaving treatment, invests in American farmers, and promotes national security. Trump and Musk’s plan to shut down USAID is inhumane and shortsighted.
Quality research and data improve public education so more students have an opportunity to succeed. Donald Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk show how little they care by defunding the research that informs the entire system of public education.
Our kids deserve the best education. Period. Elon Musk & DOGE just slashed funding that helps assess the quality & performance of our nation’s schools. Trump doesn’t care about your kid’s education. Targeting our children & standing in the way of their futures is unacceptable.
NOAA is on the chopping block, and that’s infuriating. The scientists at NOAA make us safer and stronger. They forecast weather, track wildfires, provide tsunami warning, respond to climate change, and more, and they are especially important for coastal communities.
NW Oregon: save the date for these upcoming in-person town hall meetings. Tillamook and Clatsop County details will be released soon. I hope you can join me! I look forward to hearing from you and answering your questions.
Graphic with text that reads: "Save the date! Join me at a town hall meeting this February.

I will be holding town hall meetings in Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Tillamook, and Washington Counties.

My team will be available to help people who are experiencing issues with federal agencies."

Columbia County Town Hall, Tues, February 18, 2025 at 6:00pm, Clatskanie Middle & High School, 471 Bel Air Dr, Clatskanie, OR 97016.

Multnomah County Town Hall, Fri, February 21, 2025 at 6:00pm, Benson High School, 546 NE 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97232.
It is illegal and unconstitutional for the Trump administration to freeze funding that Congress already approved. A judge ordered the administration to halt the freeze, but now Trump is ignoring the order. Reminder: the Rule of Law matters.
The judge had issued a temporary restraining order against an administration plan to freeze payments for grants and other federal programs, but says the administration has not been fully complying.
Since its inception, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has put about $21 billion back in the pockets of Oregonians and Americans. It’s no wonder that unelected billionaire Elon Musk wants to eliminate the CFPB and make it easier for predatory lenders and scammers to cheat consumers.

This isn’t an attack on a building in Washington DC; it is an attack on every public school in America. I’ll continue speaking out for students, educators, and public education.
Barring Members of Congress from entering the Department of Education on Friday shows how far Elon Musk and Donald Trump are willing to go. They want to dismantle this essential agency behind closed doors.
Every bag of food and vial of medicine says it is from the United States of America, which builds our leadership around the globe and helps keep us safe. Additionally, the food and medicine is purchased from US farmers and companies, bolstering our economy.
