Ramadan Mubarak to Muslims in #SacramentoCounty and around the world. May this holy month be a time of prayer and reflection with your family, neighbors and loved ones.
By taking this action, the Thai government has failed to uphold its fundamental obligations under international law. I strongly urge Thailand to protect Uyghur refugees, honor its human rights commitments and work with the international community to prevent further atrocities.
These individuals fled repression in the PRC, only to be sent back into the midst of an ongoing campaign of genocide against the Uyghur people—subjecting them to torture, forced labor, mass internment and even death.
Proud to join @sylviagarcia.house.gov in reintroducing the bipartisan American Dream and Promise Act to protect Dreamers and provide a pathway to citizenship. Passing this bill is long overdue. Dreamers contribute to our communities, economy and future— let's give them the certainty they deserve.
I’ll be sharing updates on how I’m working for #SacramentoCounty in Congress, addressing your concerns about actions taken by the new administration and key issues affecting our community. Pre-register at bera.house.gov/upcoming-events & submit your questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

Instead of working with Democrats, House Republicans are trying to go it alone and pass major cuts to programs like Medicaid. These cuts will hurt families in every corner of our nation. I talked to CNN ahead of voting NO on the Republican budget plan.

I stand with House Democrats against the Republican budget that would make devastating cuts to Medicaid, reduce food assistance and raise health care costs for many hardworking #SacramentoCounty families. I will be voting NO.
Sacramento is the proud home to one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas in the United States, including many refugees who have fled this very conflict. I stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and commend their courage and resilience in the face of such terror. 🇺🇦
Three years ago today, Vladimir Putin launched an illegal and unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine – a brutal attack on democracy, sovereignty and freedom. The impact of the war extends far beyond Ukraine's borders, including right here in #SacramentoCounty.
I know that a lot of USAID workers, former workers and alumni are watching today's hearing. These are patriotic Americans who administer life-saving services to vulnerable populations around the world. I took a moment to thank them for their service. They deserve better.
The People's Republic of China's continued attempts to silence voices within our borders is a direct affront to our democratic values and the rule of law. I introduced a bipartisan resolution with Rep. Andy Barr to stand firm against the harassment and intimidation of American citizens by the PRC.
“The United States must send a clear message: harassment and intimidation of American citizens by foreign governments will not be tolerated,” said Representative Ami Bera. “The PRC’s continued attempts to silence voices within our borders is a direct affront to our democratic values and the rule of law. No foreign power should be able to reach across borders to stifle speech, suppress research or intimidate individuals for expressing their views. We must stand firm against these efforts and hold those responsible to account.”
