The Trump Administration has walked back its plan to fire more than 80,000 VA employees, but they’re still trying to force staff out through attrition & retirements. With 1,172 IT employees resigning so far, I’m seriously concerned about how this vacancy will impact services for our vets.

I always love meeting with FFA officers from Illinois! These young leaders represent the future of American agriculture and I’m proud to be their partner in Congress.

As the aunt of a nephew with down syndrome, I know just how special our special educators are! I was glad to meet with the Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education to share my commitment to ensuring every student in Illinois has the resources they need to thrive.
With the new school year rapidly approaching, we need answers now about the $218 billion the Trump Administration is withholding from Illinois schools. These funds have already been reviewed and approved by Congress – it’s not up to President Trump to decide whether to cut the check.
More than 500,000 people in Illinois are going to lose their health insurance because of the Big, Ugly Bill. At the same time, more than 200,000 will face hunger because of cuts to nutrition assistance. I’m doing everything in my power to protect Illinoisans from these devastating impacts.
The GOP’s Big, Ugly Bill is going to affect every American. From shutting down rural hospitals and threatening access to reproductive care to gutting the clean energy industry and killing jobs, here are 10 things you might not know about this devastating legislation.
I’m joining 150 House Democrats in demanding the Trump Administration release the nearly $7 billion they are illegally withholding from public schools across the country.
No more excuses— follow the law and release the funding our communities were promised.
We need to speak the truth of the deeply harmful consequences of the Big, Ugly Bill. As President Trump and Congressional Republicans turn their backs on working families, I stand firmly with the health workers, teachers, caregivers, and nonprofit leaders who hold our communities together.
The Eastern Illinois Foodbank does incredible work fighting food insecurity in our community - and it's more important than ever in light of Trump's massive cuts to SNAP. I was glad to meet with their team to talk about how we can work together to make sure none of our neighbors go hungry.
Donald Trump wants to eliminate the Manufacturing Extension Program, which helps small manufacturers like Wagner Machine Co. grow in our district and across Illinois. This program has driven innovation, expanded markets, and created hundreds of jobs – ending it would be a huge setback.
Since taking office, the Trump Administration has unleashed cruelty, chaos, and fear among immigrant communities. Their actions are unacceptable.
Today, I met with local advocates to hear about the impacts they’re feeling on the ground & talk about ways we can support our immigrant neighbors.
By signing the Big Ugly Bill, President Trump is taking money out of YOUR pocket to give billionaires a massive tax break.
Elon Musk doesn’t need tax relief – working families do.
The Big, Ugly Bill will decimate social services, kill jobs, close hospitals, and raise costs for families. No one will be spared the impacts.
Today, I convened stakeholders in Decatur with Mayor Wolfe and the United Way to call out the deeply harmful consequences of this bill.
In Granite City, steel isn’t just a job – it’s a community legacy that goes back generations. I’m going to keep fighting for the investments Granite City needs to keep that legacy alive.
On average, a Black woman will earn just 64 cents for every dollar a white man makes doing the same job. That’s unacceptable.
I’m proud to cosponsor a resolution recognizing July 10 as Black Women’s Equal Pay Day and affirming our commitment to ending the wage gap once and for all.
Rain, storm or shine, we can always count on lineworkers to brave dangerous conditions and keep the power on. This Lineworker Appreciation Day, join me in thanking lineworkers for all they do for our communities!
NEWS: As @newdems.bsky.social Vice Chair for Policy, I’m excited to unveil our strategy to unleash America’s energy future. By cutting red tape and producing more power at home, our plan will lower costs, create union jobs, and build a stronger, safer and cleaner grid for everyone.
The Trump Administration is withholding billions of dollars of Congressionally-allocated funding from public schools across the country – and students in #IL13 are expected to be some of the hardest hit. President Trump MUST end this cruel freeze.
