One in six Oregonians receive help from SNAP every month. Food banks were already struggling after cuts to federal funding earlier this year, and now, the President’s trash budget is going to make it even more difficult for families to put food on the table. www.opb.org/article/2025...
Are you a high school or middle school student passionate about coding? The Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity for students from CD5 to showcase their coding skills. The winner receives an invitation to Capitol Hill to demo their app!
Black women shouldn’t have to work overtime just to earn the same as their peers. Currently, a Black woman makes 66 cents for every dollar a white man makes. Economic justice means paying Black women what they deserve.
Today, we recognize Black Women’s Equal Pay Day. For every dollar a white man earns, a Black woman earns just 66 cents. That’s not just a wage gap—it’s a justice gap. We demand equal pay and economic justice for Black women and ALL women.
I introduced multiple amendments to the trash budget to prevent cuts to the CFPB – Republicans rejected them. The CFPB works to keep my constituents’ hard-earned money with them. On @ushousefsc.bsky.social, I won't stop fighting to protect consumers from bad actors. www.cnbc.com/2025/07/09/t...
Over 1 MILLION Oregonians could lose their healthcare due to Republicans' Medicaid cuts. We won't stop elevating the voices of those who will be impacted. The fight is far from over.
Republicans have made it so people insured by Medicaid will now have to fill out MORE paperwork to receive the care they need. We’re fighting for less government red tape, not more. It's unacceptable.
Republicans' cuts to SNAP could eliminate over SIX BILLION meals each year. To keep up with demand, food banks already struggling will now need to double their operations. All so billionaires could get more money in their pockets. www.politico.com/news/2025/07...
The inhumane detention center in the Everglades has opened, and the stories being shared are appalling. They’re depriving people of access to care and basic rights, while feeding them food with maggots in it. Last week, I called on ICE and DHS to shut it down and stop treating people like animals.
Last week, I voted no on Republicans’ trash budget, which included devastating cuts to Medicaid.  Today, I joined local healthcare providers to highlight patient stories. We will not allow our voices to go unheard.
While in Central Oregon, I met with local environmental organizations to discuss everything from the sale of our public lands to forest management practices. Our environment is what makes Oregon home – we’ve got to make sure we keep it healthy.
Stopped by Spork for a delicious meal after our town hall. Small businesses like Spork are the engines of our communities, which is why I am so proud that my 3 bipartisan bills to support small businesses passed the House – called for a celebration!
I had the pleasure of welcoming some Portland State University visitors to my office! We discussed the importance of funding arts education and how they’re preparing students to enter the workforce. Thanks for stopping by!
My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the young campers, the Camp Mystic staff, and all others that have been lost to the flash floods in Texas. I will be keeping all of them, as well as the brave first responders working to bring people home, in my prayers.
Breaking News: Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp, said that at least 27 girls and staff had died, calling it an “unimaginable tragedy.” Follow updates.
