"They are in a deep hole of their own creation on staffing and so you just don't have enough people to go around to serve the public" The president's firing of hardworking civil servants at the Social Security Administration is already hurting services. www.npr.org/2025/07/22/n...
If you’ve wondered why it feels so hard to afford life right now, here’s your answer: The Republican agenda is designed to protect the rich – even if it means cutting your health care, your benefits, and your children’s education.
This week, I was honored to speak with the Memorial Foundation's MLK Social Justice Fellows about turning movements and protests into real-world policy changes. Together, we must keep working to build bridges that will lead us to the better world we want to see for future generations.
“Insurers that offer plans through the ACA are planning an average premium increase of 15% for 2026 — the largest increase in seven years” Because Republicans ended tax credits for the ACA, American families will see their insurance premiums skyrocket. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...
Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will rip healthcare away from more than 10 million Americans, take food assistance away from millions more, and still add over $3.4 TRILLION to our national debt. All to fund more tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires like President Trump.
Trump's recently passed megabill is expected to increase the federal deficit by $3.4 trillion and cause 10 million people to lose health insurance, Congress’ nonpartisan scorekeeper predicts.
President Trump’s assault on science and academia will lead to a devastating brain drain if uncorrected, ensuring more scientists go abroad to discover the next major breakthrough. This is why congressional investments in science and research must continue unabated. www.cbsnews.com/news/france-...
“An analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that 16 million Americans would lose coverage under Medicaid over the next 10 years” All to fund tax breaks that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy while still adding $3 trillion to the national debt. thebeaconnews.org/stories/2025...
“Most US adults think the GOP tax bill will help the wealthy and harm the poor” Most U.S. adults would be right, as the Big Ugly Bill takes healthcare and food assistance away from vulnerable Americans to fund more tax breaks to the wealthiest among us. apnews.com/article/trum...
Following a bipartisan push to restore nearly $7 billion in education funding for our schools, including $84 million dedicated to Missouri, I’m pleased the president has reversed course and released the funding. It’s what our students, families, and teachers deserve. thehill.com/homenews/edu...
As the @nlihc.org's Out of Reach Report makes clear: American families are facing a national housing affordability crisis—and it’s imperative that Congress take action to #RaiseTheWage, expand the supply of affordable housing, and lower housing costs For The People!
“While the stories and circumstances are unique, the root causes of housing instability are not: there are not enough decent, affordable, and accessible homes in communities, and wages have not kept pace with the ever-increasing cost of rent” www.kcur.org/2025-07-17/m...
The Protect Our TEETH Act will ensure the federal government is using the best evidence available when updating public health guidance regarding fluoridation, upholding the integrity of our public health system and protecting the dental health of families across the country.
When making policy decisions that impact the health of Americans nationwide, it's essential we utilize independent experts who are following the most rigorous scientific protocols to obtain their data. That’s why I’m introducing the Protect Our TEETH Act. cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
