Cutting trillions of dollars from federal programs that provide healthcare and nutrition assistance to working class families in order to pay for massive tax cuts for billionaires and giant corporations. It’s the Republican way. punchbowl.news/article/hous...
President Trump’s decision to block funding for roads, bridges, and clean energy efforts is threatening critical local projects—and the good-paying jobs they create—from moving forward. I’ll continue fighting to ensure this funding is delivered to #MO05 www.kansascity.com/news/local/a...
Citizenship for children born in America is a basic right in our Constitution. President Trump doesn’t get to decide who is an American or not – which is why a federal judge appointed by Ronald Reagan just called his Executive Order “blatantly unconstitutional." abcnews.go.com/US/judge-cha...
As President Trump rolls back civil rights laws and works to disembowel the Constitution, Republicans in Congress are working to gut healthcare programs for working class families to fund another tax cut for the billionaire class. We must #ProtectOurCare! www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...
“Many of the cuts Republicans are contemplating target programs aimed at helping low-income Americans, all in the service of paying for the extension of tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy.” www.nytimes.com/2025/01/23/u...
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has been instrumental in our economic recovery and the rebuilding of communities nationwide, creating millions of jobs while making our roads safer, water cleaner, and bridges stronger. Why is Trump defunding our roads and bridges? www.politico.com/news/2025/01...
I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues to lead Democrats on the Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance. Together, we will defend funding for federal housing programs and continue to push bipartisan solutions that lower housing costs for American families. cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
President Trump pardoning the criminals who attacked our democracy and assaulted Capitol Police Officers is disgraceful. This dangerous action will only further incentivize political violence, destabilize the rule of law, and erode our democracy.
Rather than fighting to lower healthcare and prescription drug costs for hardworking families, President Trump is already making clear that he will fight to protect the profits of Big Pharma over the pocketbooks of the American people. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...
Thanks to @housedemocrats.bsky.social, millions of Americans are seeing thousands in savings on their medications as the Inflation Reduction Act caps out-of-pocket prescription costs at $2,000 per month. We’ll keep fighting to lower costs For The People! www.npr.org/2025/01/20/n...
Thankful to everyone who joined the celebrations of the life and legacy of Dr. King yesterday. Together, we must continue to let his vision and values guide our nation to a more perfect union, where every American has the freedom and opportunity to achieve their American dream!
Because President Biden and @housedemocrats.bsky.social took on Big Pharma, passed the Inflation Reduction Act, and enabled Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, American seniors can expect more relief on the medications they need. #PeopleOverPolitics
President Biden has announced the next 15 drugs for Medicare drug price negotiation – in addition to the 10 drugs Medicare negotiated last year.
Today's clemency action by President Biden eliminates a harmful chapter of the War on Drugs, bringing justice to thousands & addressing racial disparities in sentencing. Once again, I applaud him for fulfilling another promise to provide nonviolent Americans a second chance at life.
President Biden announced on Friday shortened prison time for 2,500 individuals who are serving "disproportionately long sentences" for non-violent drug offenses. Taken with his other actions on clemency, this sets a record for most commutations by any president.
With this funding, our community has taken another major step in expanding access to affordable housing while maintaining local control, which is the foundation of vibrant and prosperous communities. Proud to have helped make it possible! www.kansascity.com/news/local/a...
As families and small businesses continue to express their frustration with the delayed service of Postmaster General DeJoy’s USPS, I reintroduced the bipartisan Pony Up Act with Rep. Sam Graves and Rep Mark Alford to hold USPS accountable. www.kctv5.com/2025/01/16/p...
I was happy to attend the Democratic Faith Working Group’s first meeting of the 119th Congress, hosted by Rep. Clyburn, earlier this week. Together, we must use our faith to provide the strength and perseverance needed to defend the freedoms and values we hold dear.
I applaud President Biden and the FDA for taking long overdue action to ban this harmful substance from America’s food supply. Congress and the incoming Administration must continue to put the health and safety of the public over corporate profits. apnews.com/article/fda-....
