I just joined over 100 of my @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues on the Capitol steps to denounce the Republicans’ budget scheme, which slashes Medicaid betrays the middle class to reward their billionaire donors like Elon. Not one Democrat will be supporting this Republican Rip Off.
Hours after I joined this effort, OPM heeded our demands and backed down, rescinding Musk's legally dubious threat against federal workers. My @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues & I won't back down fighting for everyday workers all over the country. thehill.com/policy/natio...
This country is fed up with the wrecking ball Elon Musk and Donald Trump are taking to essential government services. Federal agencies need to regain order right now by telling employees they do NOT have to respond to Elon Musk's absurd email.
Trump's first month has brought us: mass funding and hiring freezes, mass firings of federal employees, and hourly chaos. This is not an exaggeration: these policy choices put us all in danger. One example hits close to home. Literally:
Any short-term savings from the funding freeze, one federal firefighter said, are likely to be eclipsed by the vast resources needed to combat even larger wildfires.
Need something to play on a long road trip this holiday weekend, or on your commute to work soon? @repfletcher.bsky.social & I recently recorded an episode for @demwomencaucus.bsky.social's Madame Congress on repro rights and keeping the faith. Tune in! 🔊: feeds.transistor.fm/madame-congr...
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a woman in the House of Representatives? Tune into Madam Congress! feeds.transistor.fm/madame-congr...
Musk's and Trump's math doesn’t add up. Their 15% NIH cap on certain costs would slash funding and hit California hard. Our research and development industry supports: 🧬1.2 million life sciences jobs 💵$400 billion in economic output 🩺3.7 million patients relying on NIH-backed hospitals
I’m leading 152 of my @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues to demand answers on Trump’s illegal cut to NIH research funding. American innovation makes us the envy of the world — we can’t afford cuts to programs that cure disease, grow jobs, and sustain local economies.
I offered 2 amendments tonight to the GOPRip Off budget: 1. protect Social Security 2. protect the IRS' ability to provide good customer service & hold wealthy tax cheats accountable @housebudgetdems.bsky.social voted YES. Republicans voted NO. Their betrayal of Americans couldn’t be clearer.
I'll be with my @housebudgetdems.bsky.social all day fighting the Republican's majority's budget that would betray middle class Americans. Meanwhile, let's remember how the Trump-Vance Administration's illegal actions are faring in our federal courts:
Birthright citizenship order - BLOCKED. Federal funding cut off - BLOCKED. Illegal feds resignation plan - BLOCKED. Access to Treasury's vital data system - BLOCKED. Firing 2000 USAID workers - BLOCKED. Drastic NIH Grant Cuts - BLOCKED. Removing public health websites - BLOCKED.
Joining my @housebudgetdems.bsky.social colleagues all day today to fight the Republican-Trump budget—aka the Republican Rip-Off. The billionaire front row during Trump's inauguration was no accident. This budget cuts health care coverage to shovel more money to billionaires. Contemptible.
Eliminating FEMA, as Trump & Republicans have suggested, would be an unforgiveable mistake. FEMA employees have been responsive to our LA wildfire survivors, and they have sent over $70 million to tens of thousands of survivors so far to help them recover and rebuild. thehill.com/homenews/hou...
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of joining CORE, Altadena 7th Day Adventist Church, and the Altadena Town Council to host an Eaton Fire Relief Event. Together, we provided N-95 masks, hygiene kits, & food boxes to those in need.
This morning on CNN with Sara Sidner, I broke down key issues impacting our democracy and national security, including: ➤ Elon Musk’s infiltration into federal agencies ➤ House Democrats’ pushback with the Taxpayer Data Protection Act ➤ Risks of undermining USAID & more! Watch: youtu.be/tQSLxLW2xzA
