Hate has no home in Southern California. I stand with @bapslosangeles and condemn the vandalism of their temple.
This week I joined my democratic colleagues to introduce the PRO Act, to ensure workers have the right to form a union and negotiate for better wages and benefits. Meanwhile, Elon and Trump keep showing us that they could care less about American workers. newrepublic.com/post/192409/...
President Trump's tariffs are a tax on the American people, plain and simple. Grocery costs will go up. Housing costs will go up. Even liquor and beer prices will go up. We need to make sure every American knows that Trump isn’t looking out for them.

Shadow President Musk and Trump have never served a cause greater than their own pocket books. They have never made the sacrifices our veterans have made to secure a better future for others. Cutting these jobs from the VA will harm our nation's heroes and their families. apnews.com/article/vete...
Sylvester Turner, part of my Freshman class from Houston, passed away last night. He was a good man who dedicated his life to public service as a Texas state legislator and as the Mayor of Houston. He had a good soul and will be missed by his colleagues, family, and friends. Rest in peace.
I spoke out last night because that was 100 mins of B.S.
Meanwhile in the real world, the President's tariffs are tanking our economy and making life harder for everyday Americans.
My guest for tonight's SOTU is West Covina City Councilman Ollie Cantos. He served at the U.S. Department of Education, but he was placed on leave due to Elon Musk’s DOGE cuts. I hope his presence reminds Trump and Musk that their contempt for our country’s civil servants is harming American lives.
Republican leadership wants to fund our government with a year-long Continuing Resolution. If we have a government shutdown because of this horrible idea, it's on them. I went to the House floor this morning to call them out on it:

We need humane comprehensive immigration reform that addresses bad actors, but still upholds our American values and helps bring immigrants who have been living in our country out of the shadows. My office will continue to monitor this situation.
Stoking fear, targeting our community members, and ripping apart families is not an acceptable solution for our broken immigration system.
This El Monte family was simply trying to care for the youngest daughter and work to provide her with the healthcare treatments she needs.
These arrests are sickening, and I have grave concerns with how these arrests were reported to have been carried out by ICE. The 31st District is home to many immigrant families who came to our country wanting to contribute to our communities and local economy.
@repharder.bsky.social @repgaramendi.bsky.social and all CA have your people call my people.
Let's get this party started!
Team Harder is trying their best but happy to help my fellow Californian.
Who knew that Southern California members would figure out tech faster than the Northern California member.
President Trump and Vice President Vance's views on Ukraine remain out of touch with reality. Their meeting with President Zelensky was disastrous and disgraceful. Once again, Trump is proving he is nothing more than a stooge for Putin. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02...
AAPI communities in LA struggled to access emergency alerts during the LA wildfires -- an example of why the President's latest EO is dangerous and dumb. This is another attack on diverse communities that don't fit into Trump's outdated view of America. apnews.com/article/trum...
(3) Republicans need to get their s**t together. They control the White House, they control Congress. If we have a government shutdown, it falls on them and their inability to govern.
(2) Now, House Republicans are talking about a Continuing Resolution (CR) for the remainder of the year. A year long CR would negatively impact our military capabilities and create economic uncertainty and job insecurity. In short, a year long CR hurts the American people and our economy.
(1) The government funding bills should have been completed last year. But House Republicans made the political decision to punt them into 2025 because they wanted to wait for Trump to move into the White House. Well, they got what they wanted, but still haven't been able to pass any new funding.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
