Public and legal pressure works—the Trump Admin will release $184 million in AmeriCorps funds they tried to steal. Volunteers in CT can resume teaching kids, helping our seniors & veterans, and more. I was proud to support this effort and will always fight to protect AmeriCorps.
Labor Day isn’t just a day off—it’s a time to honor the workers who fought for our rights. Today, the American Dream is under threat from rising costs & Trump’s attacks on workers. I’m fighting for good-paying American jobs & a future that puts workers first.
President Trump promised to focus on deporting violent criminals but instead focuses on people like Esdrás. I was proud to support Esdrás’ release in a letter & will keep standing for our community & due process.
I am relieved that Esdrás Zabaleta-Ramirez, a beloved Wilbur Cross High School student, has been granted release from detention by a judge. Thanks to outcry from New Haven students, residents, & leaders, he should soon be home & starting school.
RFK Jr. embraces lies & conspiracies– he is working to take lifesaving vaccines away from kids & families. The firing of the CDC Director, & the resignations of top doctors, who refused his plans, show how extreme he is. Millions of lives are at stake. RFK Jr. must be fired.
RFK Jr. has no scientific or medical expertise. We know his agenda – he wants to take away lifesaving vaccines from kids & families. Thank God there are principled CDC experts who refuse to rubber-stamp RFK Jr’s plans that would hurt millions of children.
I am heartbroken by the loss of Michael Terrio, a beloved Guilford firefighter and veteran. My prayers are with him, his family, and the Guilford Fire Department as they mourn this immense loss.
Today was the first Mass of the school year at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. It should have been a day of learning, worship, and joy. Instead, families are grieving the deaths of children. Thoughts & prayers are not enough—Congress must act to stop gun violence.
BREAKING: Two children were killed and 17 people injured in a shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school, police said. The shooter is also dead.
On the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, we pay tribute to the courageous women who fought for our right to vote. I’m proud to honor their legacy by continuing the fight for equal pay, equal rights, and a brighter future for all women and girls.
This is yet another unprecedented Trump power grab. He wants to demolish economic stability for his own political benefit, putting millions of Americans’ retirement savings at risk. Weaponizing politics to this extreme is like playing with matches at a gas station.
It is unconscionable for baby formula to be sitting at the border of Gaza as newborns & infants die of starvation. I joined @pressley.house.gov & @pettersen.house.gov in demanding Secretary Rubio facilitate aid and baby formula to enter Gaza.
Imagine a military blockade stands between you & the ability to feed your hungry baby. That's the reality for parents in Gaza. @pettersen.house.gov and I are leading 101 Members of Congress demanding Sec. Rubio pressure the Israeli govt to surge aid and formula to babies at risk of starvation.

Trump is raising the cost of living—again. Halting this energy project will increase electric costs for hardworking CT families, and eliminate hundreds of jobs. I am ready to fight this order, because we need to be lowering energy costs for families, not driving them up.
Before, during, and after disasters, our communities turn to FEMA for help. President Trump’s political games are making Americans more vulnerable to disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires and everything in between.
Today, we celebrate the 34th Anniversary of Ukraine's independence & honor the strength of President Zelenskyy & the Ukrainian people. I will continue to support resources & funding for Ukraine, so that they can continue to defend their independence.
In response to my constituent Will Dellacamera's strong advocacy, I created the Farm Recovery & Support Block Grant, bringing $53 million to help Connecticut's small and medium farmers recover from local disasters. More: bit.ly/47Ei3Fq
Yanking visas away from innocent people who need urgent medical treatment serves no national security or diplomatic purpose. It is cruelty, plain and simple. Secretary Rubio must reverse this decision before more children needlessly die.
Trump’s policies continue to drive up the cost of living, including the cost of sending your kids back to school. American families need help. But the only thing Trump delivers is more handouts for billionaires and higher costs for hardworking families.
President Trump and Congressional Republicans are not laser focused on lowering the cost of living. Instead, they hand out massive tax breaks to the wealthiest and push reckless tariffs. Wake up. Groceries keep getting more expensive while our families fall further behind.
Approximately 75% of all food imported into the U.S. will now be hit with the Trump tariffs. That's $163 billion worth of food currently facing tariff rates ranging from 10% to 30% or higher.
