Houston is a science town—from energy innovation to medical research to outer space, we do it. And we believe in it.
Houstonians, now is the time to speak up for science. We've been global leaders in science for decades—abandoning that role will harm our national security and competitiveness.

This year's winning piece that will hang at the Capitol "Dedication," by Selina Yuan, a student at Saint Thomas' Episcopal School!
Congratulations to all who participated in our #TX07 Congressional Art Competition, and thank you to our judges from UH, HCC, & the Houston Islamic Arts Society for selecting our finalists, whom I was glad to welcome to a reception celebrating their work Saturday.
Energy leaders in Houston have made clear that what they need most from government is the ability to trust the regulatory process to be consistent and fair. Losing trust and credibility as a partner—at home and abroad—is bringing real harm to the United States. It doesn't have to be this way.
When I asked Secretary Kennedy why he would cede our biomedical leadership—and jobs—to China, his "thoughtful answer" was that "NIH is funding a lot of crazy stuff." [2/2]
391,000 jobs across the country, many of them here in Houston, are funded by NIH research grants. People in those jobs are working to cure cancer, Alzheimer's, ALS, and more. [1/2]

The costs of Trump's war with Iran keep going up.

"This Republican bill doubles down on a failed agenda and does nothing to lower costs, protect health care, or make our communities safer."

We are getting started now, and I'll use this opportunity to question the Secretary about some of the concerning proposals in that budget request. (2/2)

My statement on today's vote on the Iran War Powers resolution ⬇️
Today, I joined colleagues and conservationists from Texas, led by @doggett.house.gov, to voice our opposition to the border wall in Big Bend National Park. Texans across the state and across the political spectrum oppose this terrible plan.
With refunds falling 65% short of what President Trump and Congressional Republicans promised, the failures of the “Big Beautiful Bill” — failure to lower costs and a failure to prioritize the needs of the majority of Americans — mean that life is more expensive for people across the country. (2/2)
This #TaxDay shows us the failures of this Congress and this administration. (1/2)
Glad to join @raskin.house.gov in this effort as an original co-sponsor.
Members of Congress should be in Washington at this dangerous and pivotal moment, and Congress must act to assert its own authority and to demonstrate the values of the American people.
Speaker Johnson, call the House back into session. Now. [2/2]
President Trump's comments this week have deepened concerns here in #TX07— and across the country—about the war in Iran. [1/2]
But she should not have been there, and we must do something about it. While President Trump claims his administration is going after "the worst of the worst," law-abiding people and families are being harmed. This should never have happened to Annie. [2/2]
