Having started my public service at the school board level, I know how impactful school counselors are to our students.
I thank Annie for her work and will continue to fight in Congress for funding to be restored to support our local schools.
I had the pleasure to meet with Annie Goldberg, a counselor at Broadview Middle School in Burlington who is a finalist for the 2026 National School Counselor of the Year award.
It was great to visit Pittsboro Elementary School to highlight the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program which donates books to local schools and non-profits.
Our children are our future, and I’m always proud to uplift programs like these which help bridge the education gap in our community.
Trump's threats of strikes on Iran are not acceptable. Congress must stop him before we are launched into another disastrous war.
I am a cosponsor of Reps. Khanna and Massie's War Powers Resolution and will support the discharge petition to prevent Trump from putting servicemembers in harm's way.
It was great to join @durhamcounty.bsky.social at the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant to discuss the over $1 million in federal funding coming to Durham for the Park Page Lift Station. I’m proud to have delivered this funding to help safeguard public health and environmental quality in our area.
The American people deserve better than a government led by individuals with deep ties to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted child sex trafficker. Howard Lutnick must resign immediately. (2/2)
Ready my full statement:

The new batch of Epstein files references Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick 223 times and cites meetings between Lutnick and Epstein even after Epstein’s conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. (1/2)
It was great to join local farmers and agriculture leaders at the Orange County Agriculture Summit!
Farmers are the backbone of NC—our state needs Congress to ensure proper federal funding and the passage of a strong Farm Bill that supports farmers and protects consumers.
He needs to resign. And as a country, we need to do better to root out hate from our communities. (2/2)
I’m not going to dignify Rep. Randy Fine’s disgusting comments from this weekend by amplifying them in any way.
However, his comments are an undeniable representation of the rising racism, hate, and Islamophobia we are seeing across this country. It’s right here in the halls of Congress. (1/2)
Thank you to Lidia Terrazas and @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social for your fearless advocacy and fight for this family. (2/2)
ICE deported a sick baby and his family to Mexico without money or a phone. DHS needs to answer for these actions, and Congress needs to reign in this undemocratic agency now. (1/2)

It was great to deliver cards to veterans at the Durham VA ahead of Valentine’s Day. Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed so much for our country—I’ll always show them the love and support they deserve.
Tonight marks the start of Ramadan. I hope this holy month brings you and your loved ones a renewed sense of faith, peace, and hope. Ramadan Mubarak!
Absolutely disgusting. Politico confirms that ICE has known that its officers have been using dramatically more force against civilians and has done nothing to stop it.
This lawless agency needs more than simple 'reforms'. It needs to be defunded and dismantled.

Wishing a happy Lunar New Year to everyone celebrating in #NC04 and around the world! I hope this new year brings happiness and prosperity to you and your loved ones.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson. His decades of fighting, sacrifice, and activism strengthened our communities and helped build a better future for generations to come.
He will be greatly missed, and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
I am proud to join @repwalkinshaw.bsky.social, @hoyer.house.gov, and @vanhollen.senate.gov's Federal Workforce Caucus.
Federal workers keep our country running, and we need to reinstate these critical jobs after Trump’s senseless cuts to the federal workforce.
Republicans are blocking all legislation to prevent AI job cuts and protect civil rights in the age of AI, but we remain ready to pass AI guardrails immediately to protect our communities. (2/2)
It was great to meet with Democrat members of the former bipartisan AI Task Force with my @housedemocrats.bsky.social Commission on AI colleagues. (1/2)
