I had the honor of celebrating the grand opening of Schools First Federal Credit Union’s first location in the city of LA, in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood in my district. Schools First FCU is the nation’s largest credit union serving school employees, teachers, and the general public. (1/2)
Trump: I’m going to put ICE in the airports, where they will target and arrest all the illegals, especially Somalis, because I hate the Democrats Headlines: Trump puts ICE officers in airports to ease long lines, provide relief for weary travelers
Public schools are the great equalizer in this nation, giving all children access to quality education. Now the Trump Admin wants to go back on that promise. Fund and fix public schools - don’t destroy them.
WATCH: More than 80% of U.S. children attend public schools. Some of the Education Department’s ultraconservative advisers, led by Secretary Linda McMahon, want to change that. Here’s an inside look at their dismantling of public education:
Fact Check: Republicans control the House, Senate, & the White House, which means they’re solely responsible for your horrible airport experience. I'm fighting for a bill to fund TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard & other vital agencies so Americans can get to where they need to go quickly & safely. (1/2)
#TeamFriedman was able to share how we can help our incredible seniors at the Fairfax Senior Center. Whether you need help with Social Security or receiving VA benefits you’ve earned and deserve, my office is here to help you with any issues involving a federal agency.
The bottom line: we need a national film tax credit and I won't stop fighting to make it a reality. Other countries are outbidding us. Productions are leaving. Workers here at home are hurting.
@jimacosta.bsky.social warned about what the Paramount-WBD merger means for press freedom. "The news is broken, we may not be able to put the pieces back together." He called for breaking up big media and sounded the alarm on what happens when a few people control our entertainment and news.
IATSE President Matt Loeb testified on behalf of 170,000 behind-the-scenes workers. Employment for below-the-line workers is down 45 million hours per year since 2022. His message: "Without a comprehensive federal policy response, the U.S. risks turning its back on a signature American industry."
Noah Wyle described the "near cratering" of LA's production industry — 42,000 film & TV jobs lost in LA County between 2022 and 2024, high-budget productions down 43%. He said it's become "really hard and really expensive" to shoot in LA without relying on state tax incentives just to make it work.
Today's spotlight hearing in Burbank — here's what I heard from Noah Wyle, @jimacosta.bsky.social, IATSE's Matt Loeb & Future Film Coalition's Jax Deluca on the state of film & TV production. Any loss in production jobs hits my district hard. I won't stop fighting for a national film tax credit. 🧵
I asked @jimacosta.bsky.social what he'd tell his former colleagues at CNN and the other networks right now while Trump attacks free speech. He didn't hesitate: hang in there. Keep doing your jobs. Speak truth to power.
There's a solution to the chaos at airports & TSA agents going without a paycheck. I just signed the discharge petition, which fast-tracks a vote on the legislation to separate TSA from negotiations around ICE. Republicans should join us & stop holding TSA hostage.
No surprise that the Justice Department has been withholding these documents for months. They’re in direct violation of the law we passed to release the Epstein files. I’m glad my colleagues subpoenaed Attorney General Pam Bondi to answer for breaking the law.
