Eleven years ago, The Columbine-Hondo Wilderness Area was designated part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. It's one of New Mexico's most treasured places, and vital to our outdoor recreation economy. New Mexicans made sure it was protected for generations to come.

Sen. Heinrich: The Continental Divide Trail is part of the Triple Crown of Hiking and brings visitors from around the world to climb the spine of the North American continent. For many New Mexicans, it's their local trail where they walk their dog or spend time with their families.
Glad we passed the defense authorization bill. It supports service members, invests in NM’s military installations, strengthens national labs and environmental clean-up. It also includes my bills to reimburse military families for medical travel and honor Trinity downwinders.
People should be able to afford their health care. It's that simple. We just voted on extending the tax credits that would prevent premiums from skyrocketing for over 20 million Americans who rely on the ACA. Every Democrat voted for it. Republicans blocked it.
I’m grateful to the Presbyterian Church and the New Mexico Land Conservancy for their work to preserve this iconic New Mexico landscape. I suspect Georgia O’Keeffe is smiling down on these efforts.
