Jonathan said it best: union busting IS disgusting! The labor movement will always stand in solidarity with ALL working people nationwide fighting for the freedom, fairness and security they need and deserve. @meidastouch.com
Every hour that passes, at least one CHILD is killed in Gaza.   That's one child every hour, of every day, of every week, of every single one of the 21 months that the war has been ongoing.   The American government can no longer be complicit in Prime Minister Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing campaign.
Yesterday, I met with advocates & experts from Food for Lane County & Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon to understand just how bad the Republicans's budget bill will be for our communities. What I heard was devastating. The fight to reverse these cuts will be hard, but I am in this fight with you.
It's the 60th anniversary of Medicaid & Medicare, & we are facing a new generation of robber barons trying to shred America's social safety nets. I will continue to fight to make sure we do not return to a world where working people are left to die to subsidize more zeros onto the 1%'s net worth.
FROM OEM: Tsunami waves, generally between 1-2 feet, are expected to reach parts of OR coast. Expected wave arrival (PDT): - Port Orford: 11:40 PM - Charleston: 11:45 PM - Brookings: 11:50 PM - Seaside & Newport: ~11:55 PM Remain in a safe location away from the coast until the advisory is lifted.
🚨From NWS Medford: A tsunami advisory has been issued for coastal areas in Oregon. Please follow all warnings from state & local authorities. READ MORE HERE: www.facebook.com/story.php?st...
"The anticipated federal cuts to Medicaid make the outlook even worse. Becky Hultberg, the President & CEO of the Hospital Association of Oregon, said that if the trends continue, or worsen, the state will see 'a cascade of service closures, hospital consolidations or hospital closures.'"
🚨 At least 4 hospitals in Oregon are now at immediate risk of closure due to cuts in the Republican budget bill. My amendment, Amendment #64, would have reversed some of these cuts & given states more tools to keep these hospitals open. Republicans ALL voted against my Amendment. They own this.
📞This week, over 13,200 Oregonians joined my tele-town hall!    We talked about how the Republican budget will hurt working families, the news about Texas’s partisan redistricting, & more. Grateful for the honest questions — & look forward to continuing the conversation in-person next month!
I want to thank Governor Kotek for directing DLCD to slow their rulemaking process on farmland usage. We need a pragmatic approach that protects our farmland & supports our family farmers who are already struggling with extreme weather, trade & tariff retaliation, labor costs, & workforce shortages.
I don't usually comment on state level matters, because I do not have jurisdiction. However, in the past two days I have received a lot of concerned comments and messages from the district about a pending decision from Oregon's Department of Land Conservation and Development. My statement here:

When Andrew Jackson sent Native Americans on the Trail of Tears, it was a policy choice. When the British diverted food away from the Irish during The Great Hunger, it was a policy choice. The starvation & death in Gaza is no different. This is a policy choice & our government is complicit in it.
We are in the richest country in the history of the world. There is plenty of money to go around, and it should belong to the people who do the work every day! America’s unions will keep organizing to make sure working people have the freedom, fairness and security they deserve.
UPDATE: 🚨🚨🚨 "When Justice Department officials reviewed what Attorney General Pam Bondi called a “truckload” of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times, according to senior administration officials."
UPDATE: Republicans are shutting down the House of Representatives EARLY so they don't have to vote on releasing the Epstein files. No bills will be voted on. No legislative business will get done. All so they can protect perverts who abused children. The party of law & order, everyone.
As the top Democrat on the Water, Wildlife, & Fisheries subcommittee, I was excited to welcome TV host & conservationist Jeff Corwin to speak to us about the need for endangered species protections. I will not allow Republicans to gut these protections so big oil can fatten their profits.

GRANDSTANDING?! Wanting to release the names of the rich and powerful perverts who abused children is grandstanding? Their blind allegiance to President Trump had blinded them to the depths of their own depravity. It’s sick.
The image is a screenshot of a tweet from Jake Sherman.

It says: "NEWS — RALPH NORMAN, hardline conservative on the House Rules Committee, says the panel will not report a rule this week for bills, effectively shutting down the house floor.

Why?

He doesn’t want to vote on Democrats’ Epstein amendments. He says it’s grandstanding."
Cuts to our essential services and our jobs will devastate communities like Pittsburgh. That’s why America’s unions are mobilizing. We’re making sure ALL working people have the freedom, fairness and security they deserve to live their American Dream.
