House Republicans passed $70 billion for Trump's deportation machine.   Not for making life more affordable for working families   For ICE.   When Republicans say there's no money to help working families, remember this vote. There was always money. They just chose to spend it somewhere else.
BREAKING: House passes GOP’s immigration enforcement reconciliation bill without any language blocking Trump's $1.776 billion fund
We are less than one week away from our Faith Leaders Virtual Briefing. Join me and Rep. Clyburn on Monday, June 15 @ 7pm with special guests Attorney G.K. Butterfield, Rev Sharpton, and other faith leaders to discuss the Johnson Amendment and what it means for faith organizations.
Joined Senators Van Hollen and Alsobrooks at Attick Towers to celebrate securing $3.15 million in funding to modernize this affordable housing community for seniors.   I also met a 100-year-old resident who calls Attick Towers home. A reminder that every generation needs affordable housing.
Come with me to Bowers Fabrication in Beltsville to talk with apprentices about their journeys, the opportunities that brought them to Maryland, and the importance of workforce training programs that create pathways to good-paying careers. @laborcaucus.house.gov
Great to be back at the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland to see the completed renovations and meet with senior leadership at one of Maryland's most important federal institutions. The Census Bureau is an incredible resource in our district, and I look forward to continuing our partnership.
Joined AFGE employees outside the Agriculture Committee hearing to stand against the proposed closure of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC). We will continue pushing back against this shortsighted proposal and stand with the workers who make BARC such a valuable resource.
After months of pressure from House Dems, the House voted today to halt Trump's costly war of choice in Iran.   This conflict has put our servicemembers at risk, driven up gas prices, and moved forward without the approval required by Congress. Enough is enough.   Over to the Senate now.
BREAKING: The House has passed a War Powers Resolution aimed at reining in Donald Trump’s war in Iran in a 215-208 vote. Four Republicans broke with Trump and voted with Democrats: Thomas Massie, Warren Davidson, Tom Barrett, and Brian Fitzpatrick.
I join millions in mourning the loss of a true musical giant. Peabo Bryson's voice carried love, hope, and joy across decades, from classic R&B to Disney magic. May he rest in peace, and may his music continue to inspire generations to come.
Peabo Bryson, the iconic singer-songwriter behind the Oscar-winning Disney songs "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," has died at 75 www.tmz.com/2026/06/02/p...

The Constitution gives presidents the power to pardon.  It does NOT give anyone the power to use pardons as a pay-to-play scheme to benefit President Trump.    When credible allegations of corruption arise, the American people deserve answers. NO ONE is above the law.
BLANCHE: Who the president chooses to pardon is not a problem, period IVEY: What's the legal basis for that statement? BLANCHE: The Constitution IVEY: The Constitution does not give him the authority to pardon in exchange for payments. It does not permit bribery
For months now, the public has been left in the dark while Trump negotiates decisions that could pull us deeper into conflict and impact families here at home.   We need transparency, accountability, and a real strategy to get us out of the mess Trump created.
At a time when families are struggling with rising costs, House Republicans and the President should be focused on lowering costs and strengthening our economy, not creating a slush fund to pay January 6 rioters. We must keep up the pressure. The American people deserve better.
The Trump administration has signaled to GOP leaders that it will drop a $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" fund, but President Donald Trump has yet to weigh in publicly. https://cnn.it/4nYDya1
Happy Pride Month. Our country is made stronger by the diversity, talent, and contributions of our LGBTQ+ neighbors, friends, and family members. Proud to celebrate the progress we've made and stand with the LGBTQ+ community in the face of attacks against equality.
This temporary block is a good first step but we can't let up the pressure. Republicans in Congress must come to their senses and join Democrats in blocking any attempts to use legislation to give $$ to the slush fund for J6 rioters.
A federal judge temporarily barred the Trump administration from creating or operating President Trump’s $1.8 billion fund to compensate people it says were wronged by the federal government.
During Small Business month, it was great to spend time at Bolana Enterprises in Beltsville packing lunches for the homeless with employees and leadership while having great conversations about family, community, sports, business, and the challenges many immigrant communities are facing right now.
