Cristel’s mother is a TPS holder, and under Trump’s attacks, their family is facing incredible uncertainty and fear.
Listen to her story:
It took me 17 years and an alphabet soup of visas to become a U.S. citizen. And in Congress, I’ll continue working to protect and expand legal pathways to citizenship, including for TPS holders.
I asked our witnesses at today’s hearing what they would say to Americans who have fallen victim to anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Listen to their responses:
The Farm Bill is an opportunity to help farmers and working families. Instead, Republicans are using it to make permanent cuts to food assistance, meaning millions of children will lose access.
This bill is a betrayal. My full statement:
Instead of stripping TPS holders of legal status, we should provide them with a path to long-term stability.
Last Congress, Democrats passed the American Dream and Promise Act to give TPS holders a pathway to citizenship. We must continue to fight for this legislation and for TPS holders.
TPS holders are one of the most vetted groups of immigrants in the US. They have followed our laws, paid taxes, integrated into our communities, and contributed to our economy.
Trump’s attacks on them have no basis.
Trump’s mass deportation campaign has never been about going after the “worst of the worst.” He wants to criminalize ALL immigration.
Today, I am hosting a hearing to call out his attacks on TPS and how it is hurting our communities.
HAPPENING NOW: I’m hosting a hearing on Trump’s attacks on Temporary Protected Status with other Members of Congress, experts, and directly impacted individuals.

Today, House Republicans passed a FISA reauthorization, without the necessary reforms, that will harm the American people.
My full statement:
As Trump and Stephen Miller use domestic surveillance to suppress our constitutional rights, it’s more urgent than ever that we reform FISA and establish warrant requirements.
Today’s reauthorization of FISA Section 702 completely fails to protect our privacy. I am a NO.
Today, Republicans are working to jam through a budget resolution that hands another $70 BILLION to ICE and CBP on top of the $170 billion they got in the Big Bad Betrayal bill.
The same ICE and CBP that killed Americans in the street in MN have terrorized communities across this country. I’m a NO.
Patients and providers at reproductive health care face stunning levels of violence. Instead of working to protect them, Trump is pardoning those who commit these attacks.
Health clinics should be safe spaces, it’s that simple.
Trump has been ramping up his illegal boat strikes — which have now killed at least 185 people.
These strikes are a violation of both U.S. and international law. These strikes must stop. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/28/us/politics/us-boat-strikes.html
As King Charles came to Washington, DC, he ignored the request of Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s family for a meeting.
I joined a roundtable with her family, to once again demand justice for the Epstein survivors — and demand that their stories be heard in the halls of power.
Todd Blanche is not serving as the Attorney General of Americans, he is serving as Trump’s personal attorney.
Trump is trying to drag the world into his illegal and unconstitutional war in Iran. The reality is it’s unpopular in countries across the globe.
Congress needs to end it now.
With his mass detention policy, Trump has violated due process rights.
Today, a three-judge panel ruled that the Trump administration cannot hold immigrants indefinitely without a bond hearing.
My full statement⬇️
The American people can’t afford groceries, gas, or rent — and the Pentagon has ALREADY wasted $50 million on renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War. Now they want more money. https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5853378-pentagon-department-of-war-name-congress/
Trump’s illegal war is driving up costs and risking lives. Congress must pass a War Powers Resolution to end this now.
The Epstein survivors and the advocates standing with them, and with all survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault, have been an inspiration.
Today, we came together for a roundtable hosted by @khanna.house.gov to continue our demand for accountability and justice.
